Fishing In The Rain ???

Is it worth surface plugging for Bass in the ****in rain and howling wind?
I think spinning is no good, but what about my chances with surface plugs?
Apart from the rain and wind, the tide is just nice (low at dust) over rocks in North west wales.
Will I catch a biggy, or should I stay in nice and warm watchin TV??

Only one way to find out if it's worth it mate...........

id go but use bait squidd macky or crab as this is what they will be feeding on.
i find when its calm the small fish come closer in to the warmer water and where they feel safe ,the bass will come and hit these fri close to the shore thats when and why lures can be so good on certan days and not on others
when its real windy and the sea far from calm the smaller fish dont feel safe any more and move out to deeeper water, now the bass that are close in wont be intrested in your lure for a while becouse it becomes some what un natral,
all there be doing now is picking up bait that gets washed to shore on these realy windy days
i often try and use bait that i find washed up on the beach i had my 5 lb bass on shell fish i picked up

as for the rain sorry cant be sure. but if its calm enough the fry will be there and thats what the bass will feed on so i dont see why not

In September, after a blow and some rain, the bass will be in close looking for bits of smashed up limpet, dead or dying squid/ mackerel, worm etc. This combined with coloured and oxygenated water carrying weed means a smelly bait will be best.

With is in mind, you might like to try some of the Gulp baits?

Just had massive storms here, loads of choppy waves, got myself some limpets and couple of nice crabs and a few worms ( all in a hour scouring at low water)

Gonna get me a bigun! if the mrs lets me go!

Got loads of different plugs, I prefer any surface popping one - thats what I've had most luck on.
Sinking ones tend to catch too much weeds where I fish, and I get bored just bait fishing so I end up spinning or plugging with an eye on my other bait rod whatever the conditions. lately thoiugh, I've just been using the plugs and spinners more fun.

I ALWAYS loose sandeel spinners. Usuallly only 1 or 2 casts before they get proper stuck on something - funny!

find it quite good in rain and rough weather just be careful of the rocks and swell
