Not me wrong Island. I don't use lugworm as a bait and don't know anyone else that does on the island. Do you find they work better than rag? and do the bream take them?
I use lug or white cat- white cat being preferred!
Good result that man.

Haven't used whites in a long time, hard to find them really with only a few spots that I know of and you need a really low tide as well.
rarely use lug but I was going to get some for the next round of the hunt Guern211 to see if it gives me an edge, they seen to be favoured by the Red Mullet over rag.

Just checked out that there are some White-Cat out at St Aubins fort. Also if you take a sturdy screwdriver in the rocks out there are some red worms not sure if they are red cat though? but the bass take them in Belcroute Bay, need to be same day fresh though.

I catch plenty of bass and bream on lug they work really well i find them better and cheaper than rag worm and in the winter i get cod on the north coast

how do you keep your lug and how long do they keep for? I guess only a few days, can you make them last a week?

I dig them down the beach and put them in wet sand and then at high tide i go and get about 2-5 litres of sea water and they keep for a week if you change the water every 2 days.

Tel me more as the cod must have to pass Guernsey on the way down. Only ever heard of the odd fluke from the shore though.

Like the 29lb shore record off Lancress? Would love to get a monster like that!

Yeah, Quite!! That's a really old record though. Have only heard of 3 cod caught in the last 2 years from the shore, one of them lost on the retreive on the surface in the spek hunt!!

if your fishing with lugworm somewhere sandy would probally be best. Evening would be advisable as bass dont tend to go into open bays like st aubins or st brelades untill it is dark, or the water has some colour to it. the tides are around 2-3pm/am this weekend so u can either go late night into early morning. or try it on the low on the north coast or grouville area during the day i spose.
