That means three spaces. As usual it's first come, first served. A deposit of £60 per day is required, so that will be £10 each from twelve of us. For those who have my details already, please send me a cheque for £10. PM me if you require details?
Boat cost = £260 per day x 2 = £520
Twelve of us at £45 per head will be £540 = £10 to winner of heaviest fish each day.
Does anyone require any more info? Am planning staying at the Ferry Inn - would be good if we all stayed in the same place? Does that suit everyone else? If so, I can book six twin rooms?
Bring light shore gear too for the saturday evening dab-and-beer-fest?
Myself and Peterthefisherman are heading up on the Thursday and making it a long weekend, We are going to try a load of shore marks. Peter is sorting out the digs and im sure he was going to book the Ferry Inn, He was just waiting for confirmation on date from you. We should be sorted soon.:)
I think I could go aswell ticketty

Gents,
This trip is over 7 months away, so I'm not going to start a reserve list. The trip is full. Why not organise a weekend yourselves? Or...........what about booking the Hebridean Warrior out of Scrabster the same weekend?
Hear what your'e saying, Ticketty, but how confident are you that
all of the original other 11 will turn up ?
Deposit money up front - now - sorts out the definites from the

I think it's fair to add that I have never known anyone drop out of any trips up to Scrabster that Tikkity has arranged and even if one person was to drop out for unforseen circumstances I'm sure the Skipper would fill the space if the rest of the crew felt it was appropriate :) But to be honest taking a hit on a few dropping out at £260 per day ain't gonna break the bank :boat:
Here's a link to the last 2 day bonanza - http://www.worldseafishing.com/news/145/ARTICLE/1707/2006-09-11.html just to let you know why its a sought after party venue ;)

At that price the boat is very reasonable - if we lose a couple a few bob extra per day isnt a worry
I have not been on line recently due to BTs incompetence - does anybody need a deposit ?? - if so how much and to who
have a great x-mas folks
Peter
Sand Tiger & PTF
Re-not much extra to pay if one or two don't turn up on the day...
Sure, guys...
Probably true for ALL of the anglers who fish that day, I'd agree
with that sentiment. Even though it would be TWICE x a few bob
since you are fishing two days....I'd still agree.
But how would you feel if you desperately wanted on that trip and were
told that you were not on it........after offering to pay your deposit quick as a committment ......then accepting that you are too late.......only to find out later that one or two folk hadn't turned up and YOU missed out on a
good bit of fishing ?
Don't get me wrong, guys, I'm not having a go at you.....how can we slate
anyone who wants to go and have a good time fishing ?
If you read back through these threads, you'll see that I was offering my
deposit before some anglers had sent theirs - but Ticketty Boo told me to
'book my own boat', which is a clear snub. You can see that he doesn't even
want to consider me as a reserve....
Look at it yourself - what do YOU TWO understand from the responses ?
I'd be interested in your replies.......
Or am I missing something ?
If so, I'll hold my hands up and apologise for any misunderstanding.
I have no doubt that I will not be invited now, or in the future for that matter,
because it LOOKS like an old pals act of some kind. And no doubt because of these comments. Which will be a shame.
Any time I've ever had a grudge or falling-out with an angler it was well
forgotten when we were fishing together on a boat. Because we are there to
FISH, not to bitch. Life's too short for pettiness...the more quality fishing
time you can cram into it, the better.
I love my fishing...hence my annoyance at not getting a chance...you see ?

In a way Tikkety has a point then - Why not go for a booking around the end of September when the big Ling are moving around? Personally I would be a tad miffed if I had agreed on a forum to a trip and then someone muscled in by saying that they would pay a deposit there & then which would then entitle them to go over me, just because I hadn't got my deposit in at that point.
Don't get me wrong, guys, I'm not having a go at you.....how can we slate

Unfortunately the boat can only take out 12 anglers but there are plenty of other days in the year :)
Hi again Sand tiger
Your first point....it was evident that a deposit WAS required, is it not
therefore the case that if you haven't paid a deposit your'e not really
booked ?
I was asking for clarification of the deposit versus booking situation, me
having already stated "put me down as a reserve if you will".
I had already accepted that I was a reserve, and not on the boat.
If I remember right, I was the SECOND reserve.
TB's response did not clarify the booking procedure. He stated in fact
that he was not going to start a reserve list. He then suggested that I
book another boat.
Tell me that this is NOT a snub....
Elsewhere on the thread, he is talking to Sulzer (+ a pal) about him being
aware that they need to pay deposits even if they don't turn up etc......
which tells us he IS DEFINITELY serious about the issue of deposits.
Serious about folk committing their deposits, and yet not interested in
an angler willing to pay his quickly if necessary ???
Here's another query....
TB has put up a post looking for 11 other anglers.....a post here on the WSF
forum. Does it not follow, then, that anyone posting on the WSF forum is
therefore entitled to 'apply' for the booking, since he has made no other
selection criteria ? So one by one, all the various individuals apply by posting
themselves on this forum thread. Fair enough.
But then Sulzer posts 'put me on, and my pal,' his pal who doesn't know it yet
but is having his place booked by Sulzer in case he wants to go.
Have I not posted myself before this pal ?
Am I therefore not entitled to this place ? ie if no deposit is required and it
is just the first to post who gets the place on the boat.
Like I say, TB SEEMS to have pre-decided that I will not be going on
this trip. That is the feeling that I am taking from this thread.
However, overall....I personally am in the fortunate position of getting a fair amount of boat fishing myself, both with my own club, Clyde & West Region Comps., and as a guest with one or two other Clubs. So really, when I think about it I should not be selfish re-this trip.
I will therefore cease to pusue this line any further and let the original 12 have their fishing if it is deemed their right.
Enjoy the trip, guys and gals. Trust you will post photies/stories again - even
if just to make me sick !!
(Bmac will do that job anyway)
..

and tb was just letting me know about deposit.
we have only been on a few meets on here shore only as the boat 1 was cancelled.

Well this is heating up!
A couple of simple facts;
1) I asked for names on 11th November
2) Sultzer got the last 2 places so the trip was full by 24th November. It was strictly 1st come - 1st served.
3) Ken R asked for a place on 8th December and tried to buy his way in with a deposit
4) Of those going - there are 5 I have never met before. How that can make it a closed shop, I do not know?
5) I have no doubt that there would be sufficient interest here to fill a second boat over the weekend, so politely suggested that Ken R should do that?
6) I agreed fees and deposits with Sandtiger over the phone and had the pleasure of once again speaking to his good lady. All is well. To send out a pm to everybody for deposits is time consuming (cannot send a message within 60 secs of the previous one). I'm very busy at work just now and will do that over the holiday period.
7) Reserves - I've been a reserve on a trip before myself - and even waved guys off from the quayside cos the boat was full. It was ****e! I have 12 anglers to deal with, book a boat for, book accomodation for, and sort out travel arrangements and bait etc. I am willing to do that. I'm not willing to up my work by 30% having to mail another 3 for something that probably won't happen.
Everybody going on this trip agrees to cover their costs, regardless of whether they go or not. If they cannot go - they find a reserve. The boat and digs will be paid for in advance. If the trip is cancelled - refunds will be immediate (If I have you addresses PeterTheBloody Address-free fisherman!!!). Those are the Ticketty Rules for Ticketty trips.
If you don't like it KenR - then run another trip. When you are paying me to run trips - then give me a hard time. If not - then just **** off!
Uppity Boo - To repeat your own word - Who the **** do you think you are ?
I see that you are being as derogatory to me as you have been in
the past with other anglers. My comments in reply....
You 'divert' the truth somewhat..
2) 1st come, 1st served was never stated by you until now.
3) Tried to buy my way in ? READ the post again.....I accepted that I was
a reserve, ie not on the boat, and was asking you to CLARIFY deposit details-
WHICH YOU DIDN'T. If you had said "1st come/1st served with deposit money"
then I would have pressed you for a place. BUT YOU DIDN'T.
4)/6) If there are 5 you haven't heard of before, and you THOUGHT that I was
offering you a quick deposit, then why did you not ask for it ? If you don't want
a load of extra work etc.......it would have been easier for you - no?
Anyway, if you had just clearly stated rules for bookings ONCE online here =
no need to pm any amount of others...etc is there ? DOHHH
5) Don't try to diguise your snub as 'polite' - your'e not fooling anybody.
7) As a reserve, I was willing to wait until, say a fortnight before the boat,
without making any other plans for that date, so that if one or two of YOUR
anglers fell out, I would fill the boat space/accommodation shortfall. I would
watch the forum here for trip info....simple.
How can that be construed as offensive ?
Never mind, calming down a bit to where I really am.....
As per my last post, I should have no right to be selfish.
And I DO wish you and the others all the best for the trip. Words on here don't change
the fact that we are both just anglers who severely enjoy their boat fishing.
If we fished next to each other on a boat I'm sure we'd both enjoy it, so what the hey....
I will go now......and leave you the opporchancity of having the last word.....
Ok folks can we keep this a little more civilised.
By my understanding of the previous posts the trip is fully booked, the meet is still some time off and there is the possibility that one or more may not be able to make it due to unforseen circumstances. If this should happen and those unavailable can give enough notice of cancellation surely those others who would like to go and have intimated their interest should be given first refusal.
This thread is not here to allow one or more members to start an arguement but to organise what from the last trip was a very successful and enjoyable weekend lets keep it that way please.
Apologies to any/all offended for my tone in my last post,
and thank you for your post, Millser. I feel your comment is common sense
and fair play.
I think future arguments could be avoided if the booking/deposits/whatever
selection criteria were made clear and absolutely concise in the initial
thread.

Either way - you're not coming if I'm organising it :) :) :)
You've come from nowhere, tried too get onto a fully booked trip by jumping guys that said they would go, noised a lot of people up (including the skipper) and tried to interfere with a system that works perfectly.
Will you please just leave me alone and bother someone else?:clap3: :clap3: :clap3:
I fail to understand how I can have upset the skipper - as I have not made
any contact with him.
Perhaps he has heard some malicious gossip from someone.
Pity T.B. could not find the same humility as I did in my last posts...
Didn't he read Millser's advice ?

I'm not upset fella nor do I pay heed to gossip of any type but I do have access to the internet and felt it was a shame to see that a friendly forum such as WSF should be going the way it has in relation to a posting about a trip arranged for guests on a vessel under my command.
Therefore I sought to gently assure you that this is how the trips have been arranged and worked in the past and that it was not a case of it being only open to an Old Boys network as you appeared to be suggesting.
There is a lot of work and pressure for any individual wishing to arrange an angling trip on behalf of forum users, where members can come and go - Clearly it is the orginiser that is left holding the baby if it all goes pear shaped so it's only fair that the person making the effort and taking the risk in orginising a trip should be allowed to do so in a way that they see as appropriate and fair.
Ticketty has done this in the past and his integrity has never been challenged or seen to be lacking in any way before and I don't see any change in relation to this trip.
That is really the bottom line and hopefully all that needs to be said on the matter so that this thread can get back to the topic of fishing trips out of Scrabster :)
Hi again SandTiger. Glad you identified yourself as the skipper here...I
trust that I did not offend you (as TB stated). Good to see that we are back
to civilised posts again.
I agree with all you say about the organiser taking the risk etc, but does
that give him the right to be cheeky to forum members?
Would you agree that all of this could have been avoided if the 'booking rules'
had been stated clear and loud at the start?
After all, not everyone is a regular on this forum, and not everyone was on
the boat the last time......how are they to know what his 'rules' are unless
they ask....like I did. His answer was 'go and book your own boat'.
Not very friendly, is it ?
I'd be interested in your views on these questions.
To other matters....I am the boat convenor in my local club here in Glasgow.
As I said on the thread, I enjoyed a trip at Scrabster about 5 years ago.
(Can't remember the name of the boat, it IS very possible that it was yours
as it was a trawler type ..... it wasn't Elana anyway)
I v'e been singing Scrabster's praises to our anglers recently.
Between ourselves and another Glasgow club, we were mulling over a
possible 'away trip' in 2007, and Scrabster was one venue mooted, the other
being Stornoway where one of our anglers is a member.
Are you able to advise (roughly) what kind of species are available in the
months of July/August/September, and what Saturdays you have available
within this period at the present time.
Would probably be useful to us to know if we were able to book the fishing
plus accommodation together via yourself.
Unfortunately we have already booked our full years' boats for 2007; in any
case it is a bit too far to go for consideration as a club boat.
Look forward to hearing from you. KR

For general fishing you can expect Mackerel, the ubiquitous Coal Fish, Cod, Ling, Pollock, Spurries, Ballans, Cuckoos, the odd Scorpion Fish etc… during that 3 month period.
You can also expect to see Basking Shark, Risso’s Dolphin, Northern Bottlenose Dolphin, Atlantic White Sided Dolphin, Common Dolphin, Harbour Porpoise, Minke Whale and Orca if you are lucky.
For available dates please check our online calendar on the website (Web address in my sig). You can also provisionally book your desired date online.
Local (ie spitting distance from the boat) accommodation can be arranged if requested.
Hope that is of use.

This statement is completely, totally and utterly untrue. I have tried on several occassions to spit from both the boat to the digs, and in return - from the digs to the boat. I've never managed it yet! Unless you are thinking of camping at the top of the ladder - then you'll need to spit at least 1.5 yards further than I can.
a wee hint for those trying to spit to the digs , if you spit only using the saliva then it will not reach the digs , on the other hand if you mix your saliva with nice healthy amount of green snot it will travel considerably further due to the extra weight the snot carries.
why not give it a try , let me know how you get on

Ticketty, You're quite right, I should have added that gobbing from digs to the boat is entirely dependant on the prevailing westerly wind and also as Big Al helpfully points out, a healthy mix of phlegm - Please accept my apoligies for this minor oversight on my part :roll1:

Ok going to have a go at organising the accomadation, been in touch with the Ferry Inn, i have asked if they can accomodate 12 people and this is what they have to offer.
Thank you for your enquiry. I am pleased to tell you that we have
availability for 24th & 25th August. Due to us having weddings on both of
those evenings, I can only offer you lodges that are situated within the
hotel grounds. The prices I can offer you are £30.00 B&B per single lodge
bed & breakfast and £55.00 B&B per twin/double lodge based on 2 people
sharing. Hope this information is helpful to you and I look forward to
hearing from you soon
if anyone wants me to book for them give me a pm. better make it soon as the wedding guests may book these.

not an appropriate comment
what you going or want to then
its his interpretation of what a 'walloper' is thats causes the offence here, and that can be defined as anybody he doesnt know or has disagreed with before.
I have no doubt I would make his list and he wouldnt allow me on this trip even if it meant leaving a space empty and passing the cost onto the others.
thats just the sort of guy he is.

Hi Guys,
Due to being left rather embarrassed by late call-offs on this weekend's outing, I've decided that the August trip will require to be paid fully in advance by the 1st August at the latest. I hope this is enough notice for everybody as it's still three and a half months to the trip?
Boat fees will be £25 each per day x 12 = £300 - so £50 in total per person. If we are kept in or the trip is cut short due to bad weather, refunds will be paid.
I should be able to arrange ragworm and lugworm orders a bit nearer the time for anyone that requires them? This will be fresh dug stuff from Joe Reilly in Renfrew and not farmed. Current prices for both are £17 per 100.
Please pm me if you have any questions?
Regards
TB.

Gents,
Just to re-iterate, with the exception of BMac and PeterTheFisherman, I've received no further payments from any of you. There have been no posts this year from Tartan Pete which concerns me too. Due to timewasters on a previous trip, I'll require full payment before we go £50 each. I have not cashed any of the deposit cheques, so these can be destroyed if you wish?
PMs sent to all concerned. Please call me to discuss asap (9am - 9pm please!!!)
Ticketty Boo
08-08-2007, 21:13
Gents - I'm proposing we run three sweeps over the two days. All are no more than a bit of fun, but will probably be contested keener than if 10 Grand were at stake:);
1 - Heaviest Cod. Entry = 1 unusual can of beer. Winner takes all.
2 - Heaviest other fish. Entry = 1 bar of chocolate. Winner takes all.
3 - Most species over the two days. Entry = 1 rig/trace. Winner takes all.
Skipper's decision is final. 1 man 1 prize. No entry onto the Stormdrift II without a funny hat and a big smile:):):):)
There is one space still available and there me be a second come Friday. If anyone else wants to come along, please send me a pm? Lifts may be available from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Aberdeen. We did have three willing reserves (Franco & da crew), but they have booked places on the Karen for the same weekend - so more drinking buddies.
Confirmed;
1. Ticketty Boo!
2. BMac
3. PeterTheFisherman
4. FlounderAl
5. Skipperboy
6. Buffalo Bill
7. GlasgowDan
Yet to Confirm since pm sent;
8. Deputy Dog (but he's paid the accomodation deposits)
9. Sultzer
10. Father Smurf
11. Tartan Pete (not posted this year - looking unlikely?
Not Going;
12. BigAds - so one place spare at least.
Any other suggestions for Tomfoolery? If you wish Lugworm or ragworm ordered for you from Joe Reilly and delivered up on Friday night, please call or pm me? His prices are around £17 per hundred worms and you can mix 50/50 if required. I'll need to order them asap though as our weekend is his busiest of the year with 250 anglers fishing the Clyde & West Region match at Greenock.
Sandtiger - how's the fishing been of recent? Do you need anything brought up from Glasgow at all?

i told fathersmurf to post aout my net problems.
:g::g::g::g::g::g::g:
take he still to shy
Ps
what fishing gear to bring as well please.
size of leads etc.
Sultz, 12-20lb class boat rod, Sturdy multiplier with 30lb braid, A mix of 7-12oz leads will be okay. Bring plenty of Muppet and Hokkai lures, The bigger 4/0-6/0 size are better, Also bring some pirks if you have them, The Ling luv'em !!! I would also bring a spinning rod as we will most probably at some point fish for Pollack and Wrasse on the leadheads, rubbers etc. Lastly bring some scratching gear ( sm hooks, beads etc) as we will do the usual species hunt for Dabs and mini species.
Its more than likely a few of us will be fishing the shore so i would fling in a beachcaster set-up also.
Hope that helps :)
i'll need a trailor for all that.
i take it mono is no good then.
got most of the rest apart from the braid never used it before
Ticketty Boo
10-08-2007, 15:09
You'll be ok with mono at Scrabster, usually less than 100ft deep. Less chance of a snag with braid as you can feel the bottom easier and lift up instantly.
Braid is essential for Etive or Lochaline where mono bite detection in 300ft of water is impossible.
As an example, pull out 10m of mono and tie it to something solid. Take the strain and mark where you are. Now walk backwards and see how much stretch there is? 1m/10%? Imagine that in 300ft depth - you strike - and nothing happens at the other end!
ok i get you now.
as i only fish arbroath area i only use mono.
ta for info.

Given the lack of response from Tartan Pete - he's out, so we have one place still up for grabs (NickInTheNorth takes place #11). The boat still has to be paid for. It's only an extra £2 each per day, but given that there's loads of room I'd like to see another angler joining us if possible?
