Hi
Anyone know whether there is still a Southern casting day at Steyning on Sunday morning? I could do with some instruction or is it mainly a tournament ? Thanks in advance. Where is it going to be held if so ?
Im not sure:g:
i know there was a new casting club in the west sussex area , I am not sure of its name, i think doubleshotdamo knows?

Cheers Slayer and Stan, hopefully I can get up there.
Should be quite humbling, I did go up there a good few years ago when Richard Cook used to cast up there and he taught me a thing or two but to be honest I havent really been using the proper beach rods that much over the last six years. I've had a few sessions recently and I seem to have forgotten more than knew !

Well, was it on? Never knew anything about it! If anyone knows of the next one, I will try to get up there. Used to go to Steyning regularly casting three or four years back; would like to get back into it a bit.

Didn't go either...Man Flu ! Hopefullly it becomes a regular event because I'd like to get a few pointers to improve.
i went down to say hello and ask a couple questions
well the event is the first sunday of every month, i spoke to the guy running it hes name is neil jones he is a sea angler casting instucter and a very helpfull he was! he gave me hes number incase i had more questions ,its the same number given on page one! They all seemed like a friendly bunch , should have brought my rod along as they said it would have been fine to join in, i did not relise that:wallbash: never mind i know now. stayed for a little while best cast while i was there was 261. i assume yards?? not sure what weights they were casting
The next tournament is on the 4th of march

So it is a tournament? Not a teach in and a muck about? Tournaments can get a bit serious. I prefer going along for the craic! :)

not as serious as you think mate...everyone enjoys the craic, and it's a very light hearted affair.plenty of people will help you IF you ask for it,IF you don't....mucking about and casting don't go hand in hand,as it can be dangerous if not all the precautions are taken.

he said the next tournament was on the 4th of march
it seemed pretty friendly to me not to serious, just give neil a call mate im sure he will tell you how it is! either that or just put the 4th in the diary and go and have a look see what you think.

were you the chap in the white van ??
the casting meets are not to serious all saftey issues are serious but as for having a good laugh and ripping the **** out of each other that is 100% guranteed they are a great bunch of lads if its teaching you require then you need to speak to neil (the boss man) if you just wanted to come and cast im sure you would be welcomed just be ready for a shock when you see exactly how far 200 yds is,,, its a bit of a eye opener

It's not that far! With a bit of practice anyone can hit 200 yards; well, nearly everyone! :)
4th March I was thinking of drowning some worms at Eastney in a "Catch a fish, win a prize" comp. Decisions decisions.
200 yds is far!
Alot of people think they can cast that far but are very much mistaken.
With good setup and lessons it is in reach of most but it is a good cast by any standards.

what times?? as im fishing eastney but really want to come along!!lol
Usually kicks off before 1000hrs and runs till 1600hrs or till everyone has enough!
Forecast NE 16mph winds but high pressure. Should still be a pleasant day out and for any newbee's that turn up a good eye opener.

How did you finish up slayer ? As I said that was a pleasant suprise for me getting 200 yds so encouraged was I that I've just been down to the beach for an hour and I'm sure I'm getting further now with a longer drop ! Roll on the 1st sunday next month i I'm free thoughI guess I might have started to get side tracked with proper fishing by then. Good to meet you mate !

Congratulations you've got your 200 and you've beaten my new PB ! I'm sure I beat it today but there's only one way to find out and thats next month. Cheers for the link to the pix. Have you had a chuck with the elite yet ? Remember it'll be a lot faster so start with the mags on full.
