Here's a link - http://www.mexfish.com/- that several forum members have identified that may help others in planning trips. It's surprizingly comprehensive and covers all form of fishing - offshore, inshore, beach, conventional and fly - on both the Pacific and Caribbean coasts. This is the introduction from their home page:
The sportfishing reports and photographs in "Mexico Fishing News" are gathered weekly from hundreds of resident and visiting anglers and dozens of charter fishing boat fleets around Baja California, the Sea of Cortez, and major mainland Mexico fishing vacation destinations.
They include current information on species caught, fish counts, charter boat names, beach fishing, conventional and fly fishing guides, the most effective fishing tackle, bait and lures, current sea surface water temperatures, ocean conditions and weather, peak fishing seasons, vacation travel updates, and the names of all reporters, whether they be large hotel fleets or solo "pangueros" with just one skiff — information that is critical in deciding when and where to fish in Mexico.

FOR OFF-SHORE FISHING TRIPS PLAN A MINIMUM OF 10-12 HOURS WITH A 6 AM DEPARTURE TO GET WEST OF EL BANCO FOR THE BEST OPPORTUNITY TO CATCH YOUR PRIZE. OUR ABLE FIRST MATE, FREDY RODRIQUEZ WILL HELP YOU BOARD YOUR BIG TUNA OR MAHI OR TAG& RELEASE THE BILL FISH TO PRESERVE THE STOCK. HUMPBACK WHALES ARE LEAVING ON THEIR NORTHWARD MIGRATION HIGHWAY BUT THERE ARE STILL PLENTY OF DOLPHINS, SEA TURTLES AND MANTAS ANSWERING NATURES CALL IN THE BAY. This is quiet literally a post from the front lines as I am currently in cabo San Lucas! The wonders of modern phones! Well the fishing here has been some what interupted by the swine flu issues meaning that there are currently no cruise ships docking and so the town is rather quiet! Still I've managed 5 days out on Tracy Ann which is a 31 foot bertram and part of the Pisces sportfishing crews. Well having come with the intention of fishing for marlin (I know this is the slowest month for the area) I was slightly disheartened to see that the catch reports for all fish were very very slow! Still you make the best of a bad situation and I had high hopes of a good trip no matter what! Now having spent four months researching this trip it was nice to know that the little knowledge I had gleaned would come in useful and day one produced my first stripper at 140lb and a very satisfying fish it was too! It fell to a custom made lure which fished off the top rigger outfished everything else 10 to 1! It was made to imitate a squid with a fantastic action in the water! There were also plenty of tailers out there but would n't touch a live bait for love nor money! A couple of aborted takes and day one was over and I was a happy man! Day two we fished the same area but it couldn't have been more different! Nothing, nada, zilch! On the way back in I mentioned about the amazing humbolt squid that exist in Mexico to which the boat promptly came to a halt a squid jig was produced and I spent the next 45 mins fighting the huge cephlopods! Squid for dinner that evening was devine! The next day I fancied a change and the first reports of tuna prompted a trip to the pacific side and 8 hours of wrestling schooling tuna from amongst super pods of dolphins! 18 tuna later between 5 and 30lb it was out for another fish dinner! Day 4 was similar to day 3 but with a skipjak amongst the yellowfin, day 5 was my final day and I wanted to catch dorado! This worried the crew as very few had been caught but we went looking, 8am and the first dorado was in the bag at 35lb it was a lovely fish and so was the next one at about the same weight! The crew were in shock and even more so when the biggest bull I've ever seen smashed into a bleeding mackeral lure! 20 mins later and an estimated 50lb monster standing about 60inchs long was being held for the cameras and the crew and I were both over the moon! At lunchtime strippy number two of the trip arrived and at 120lb topped the trip off nicely! The next 25lb dorado was just a bonus! All in all swine flu or not csbo San Lucas is an amazing place and the people fantastic! I can't recommend it enough! Right back to sunbathing and pictures to follow if I ever make it back!

Indeed, you know when it's good when on the first jump everyone on the boat goes 'big fish'! Getting it mounted at the moment as I'm sure I will never be lucky enough to see another like it!

Puerto Vallarta fishing report 05/15/09 Sailfish Frenzy! We took out Bobby, Charles, Mike, and Keith yesterday on the 2006 luhrs, the Sirena With Captain Steve and crew Freddy and Marcos. What a day right when We got around the point of Punta de mita We spotted a nice sailfish Marcos ran to the front of the boat casted out some live bait and boom We had a sailfish on Keith was first and did a great job reelled in a nice 100 lb sailfish in about 15 minutes next we found a nice school of dorado feeding off a small tree branch floating about 10 miles north of the point We caught 4 back to back enough to make some fresh ceviche for lunch then We decided to go and catch some more sailfish! We started heading further north by guayobitos but the conditions were so nice the water was like a lake You could see for miles about a 30 minutes later Captain Steve saw a couple sailfish sun bathing about a 2 miles away from us he speeded up the Sirena and 2 seconds later we were right on top of them but could not get a bite on 50 lb test so We tried with a 40 and boom the bigger sailfish hit and hit it hard within seconds You could see this beautiful fish fighting and jumping about 20 yards from the boat what a show! Mike nailed it though reeling in this 98 inch sailfish like a true pro it only took him 20 minutes to land it which is not so easy on 40 lb test. We kept trolling north following the birds and dolphins keeping a look out for sailfish as we were trolling a nice striped marlin hit a lure Captain Steve hit the throttle and hooked a nice striped marlin about 120 lbs. After that it was slow We did not see anything but dolphins for a couple hours then just like that We spotted about 5 sailfish jumping and swimming Marcos hooked another one this one was bigger then the first 2 though a nice female about 130 lbs after that we spotted a school of jacks picked up a nice triple hook up and then called it a day. but what a day 5 dorados,3 jack crevalle, 3 sailfish, and 1 striped marlin! see more puerto vallarta fishing reports at http://www.puertovallartafish.com/puertovallartafishingreport.html

Puerto Vallarta Sportfishing review/ March / 06 /2010Captain Steve Torres Has been on a tuna hunt even though it is late season Captain Steve found a great boil of Yellowfins but way offshore about 20 miles past the El Banco so it is about a 70 mile run from the Marina Vallarta. We left the docks last Tuesday a little before 4 am hit the fishing grounds about 7 am, and right as we approached the Island we saw a nice flock of birds and smaller tuna jumping just like the other day Captain Steve said smaller tunas jumping early and the big bite in the afternoon after 2pm We had a first hook up after about 15 minutes drifting and casting live bait, nice little footballs about 30-40 lbs great Sashimi to start off the day, after we boated the first tuna we caught up with the School and as soon as we starting drifting again, there was another bite then another then 1 more all about the same l.size 30 -50 lbs that got everyone's blood going we kept catching one after another with 1 more triple hook up, then at about 2 pm we decided to get a little further away from the Island and try for the bigger tuna We drove about a mile Captain Steve spotted some birds and we were back on top of them. Then we all saw a big splash in the water behind us much bigger then we had seen all day and 5 minutes after that we were hooked up again this Yellowfin had a little more size about 120 lbs to top the day, total count eleven Yellowfin tuna 30-60 lb range and one that was about 120 lbs.

Come on, you can't kill the fish. Let them go so there is something to catch tomorrow. I know you can sell them for a little bit of money on the dock, but let's think ahead! And don't tell me it died, I do this for a living and you can revive almost anything if you put a little effort into it.
43 and 38 Lbs yellow fin tunas catched in Gordo banks last tuesday
