Panama Jack asked for some tips. Therefore, i wanted to start my first thread of GT tips. I have had and opportunity to fight a lot of GT's in different areas. So this will be about location.
1. These fish love turbulent water, rip currents, side currents, back of waves, and sometimes on drop off's. Honestly I have done the best in rip currents and places with lots of suds and white water foam on the surface.
2. Mixed reef and sand bottoms are ideal places. Sometimes all reef is good. Landing fish becomes harder with more structure around.
3. Most important is that there is some water movement happening. If it is too calm the action doesn't seem to happen much.
Next time I will post about fighting these powerful buggers!
Cheers,
Cyrus Boyum.
Enjoy the pics of various Indonesian locations we fish and score at!
Back of waves. Little calm in this pic, but when the swell is up this place is on!

Reef drop off's. Epic spot with lots of suds and motion plus a drop off!

Side current, sand to reef pass! Great at higher tides when water is moving.

Finally a rip current reef pass. Easy cast produce fish. Bigger swell the better! Low tide access to pass when reef is exposed.
