Evening all,
I was out last night with my wee nephew and we had a cracking night.
We headed to Red Bay Pier (nr Waterfoot) and fished from 1800, this was an hour before low tide so I wasn't expecting too much....
The first hour or so was quiet but others on the pier were landing decent plaice.
By 2000 we began to touch for some fish, between us we got 2 Gurnard (grey in colour), 2 decent cod (around 1.5lb), lots of dab & flounder, 1 coalfish, 2 doggies and a pollack.
We were using a mixture of ragworm, sandeel and some dab as bait.
Lots of variety and very enjoyable evening.....
This spot can be very busy, especially in summer as there are a lot of holiday makers in the area but it's well worth a visit. I would especially recommend it to familes/kids as it is pretty safe and you can park your car next to where you are fishing.
;) :) :)
