wont be able to attend this one lads, parents wont be aving me coming home at like 4 in the morning :( would love to come tho, good luck lads
We will not be attending either and to be honest I am tadge ****ed off about it. Not only has the date been changed the ridiculous time the match is being fished is going to exclude a number of us from attending defeating the whole purpose of these matches. No consideration or consultation. We have five children and had made arrangements to fish the 25th and at such short notice can not re-arrange. It is at minimum going to be a two hour drive for us and thats just there let alone back, and I for one am not prepared to drive a couple of hundred miles in the early hours of the morning. No consideration has been given to the younger anglers who no doubt would have liked to fish this match and I am sure as a parent I would not like my youngsters out in the early hours of the morning half way across the country. We have made the effort to fish the previous two matches and I am disappointed that we will not be able to fish this one. Surely it would be in everyone’s interest to fish these matches at a reasonable time, i.e. Saturday/Sunday afternoon/early'ish evening on the date as arranged and agreed.

wont be able to make it, thought it was going to be ont 25th, and its a bit stupid having it so late!!!! the boys and girls from the west wont be getting home till 5am........5am:g: :g: i think you should take a look at the way comps are organized , most are fished at mid sunday morning till early afternoon!!! these may not be the best times to fish but there that time for a reason...to get as many people to fish em as possible!!!!!! it was said in previous posts that these comps were being put on to meet a few new faces and have a laugth, its going to be pitch black and every1 will be tired.......................I give up!!!!!!!!:uhuh: :schmoll:

YOU CAN'T PLEASE ALL THE PEOPLE ALL THE TIME. YOU CAN'T PLEASE SOME PEOPLE ANY OF THE TIME. AND SOME PEOPLE ARE JUST DOWN RIGHT AWKWARD. The whole idea of of changing the venue was to make it easier for the members in the east to attend the match. The idea behind changing the date and the time was to enable every one who attended to have the best opportunity of catching some decent fish. The venue chosen after much pressure was put on SBM fishes best on big tides and at night. Now I fully appreciate the points raised by Kellogs, and others but I am at a loss as to how we can resolve the situation. I have put a lot of time into producing catch record cards and other paperwork that makes it easier to run the matches.
Now what do you really want? Is it just days out at convinent times on nice easy fishing venues with not much chance of catching because the tides and times are not really the optimum for that venue or matches that are arranged at venues that are fishing well and at times that are best for the fish and not the angler. My opinion for what it is worth is that we scrub round the whole thing I will sort out what to do with the £9 carried over from the first match. Then we just organise trips etc like Rockling did the other saturday and like SBM did at pendine and if the people who turn up want to have a little flutter on the result that's fine. Please post sensible and polite comments. At the end of the day SBM started the ball rolling I think the final decision rests with him.
Roger I was not critising you or SBM and I understand the hard work you have both put in to get this thing off the ground and your right you cant please everyone. I for one was looking forward to fishing Monknash like no doubt everyone else but the change of time and date at such short notice has caused a number of people difficulty in attending thus defeating the purpose of the match and I was merely venting my disapointment. Look at the posts previous to mine and you will see the majority of them so far have been people saying they are unable to attend.

if just a tiny bit of common sense would be used as to times and keeping to dates.
i know people have booked days off work and rearranged plans to fish on the 25th, and fishing till 2am c'mon ...the boys from the west are gonna be getting home at 5 in the morning and theres people up here and down there that are to young to be fishing out till stupid o clock! by the time we pack up and and get to the car park it would be 3am , so i wouldnt get home till 4 and i live fairly local to this mark. and for those of you who havent fished this mark its a long walk down a narrow bumpy path, i know its a better tide to fish it and there would be more fish caught, but the whole point of these comps is to have a good time and meet some new people..so surley for the sake of there being less fish caught ,wouldnt it better if the comp was in the morning so that more people could attend!
yea y not fish it on a pwp tide in the middle of the day. ie the 25th then wont catch many fish but after all its not the fishing thats important its the meeting people and banter aint it.
Hey why not say stuff the fishing and all stay in the pub at the top of the road instead :clap3: :clap3:

I was prepared to make a 4 hour round trip on the 25th & had made arrangements with respective kids, to keep this day free. But with the change of date & time, theres no way i can go now. Like King of leon pointed out it will be as near as damn it 5-6am by the time i get home. As i pointed out in a previous post. Its going to be extremely hard to please everybody.

i myself think it would be far easier to have a west league and an east league,as it was said this was meant to be a bit of fun and its gonna end up everyone fighting on the beach not fishing.maybe with 2 leagues it would be far easier and convenient for ALL MEMBERS

i agree with john, but it kind of takes away the meeting new faces, but i would rather two leagues to be honest

It makes sense to me, Its hard enough to get time off to fish weekends anyway, let alone changing things. Surely with careful planning it would have been realised that the tides were a bit crap to fish. Please do not not take offence to this anybody. as i dont want to upset anyone. & i realise the hard work that RTB & SBM put into this.

i think the idea about 2 leagues is a good one!but we could still have little meets where,as has happened, rocklings going out and asks if anybody wants to go,they are welcome.same down here,as on past meets where boys from up line have come down here.lets not start argueing and slating the organisers, they are trying to please us all!

Its not about the distance. Its about the changing of date & time. After many people had made arrangments for the 25th.

garry i would of come to monknash because wolfie had offered me a lift (i think) so i would have been up for it, but there is jsut no way my parents would let me go to a place i dont know thats miles away... simple as
if the times were different then i would prob come

The tide on the 25th is crap two small of a tide you have to fish them on a big tide and the only date which as a good tide is the 17th march then the next one is in june 16th tight also you need them on a saturday as a lot of clubs around here have there comps on a sunday i you will not get a place tight lines
I agree with K.OL, Rockling, Kellogs and Conga queen, keep the same date, reasonable times and people will turn up, if for that reason monknash may not fish well, then let's come up with an alternative mark down East that fishes okay on smaller tides. Perhaps Ogmore Deeps, it will be safe on a smaller tide. Aberthaw fishes well on smaller tides too!!
Let's find a solution or scrap the whole thing!:clap3: :clap3: :clap3:
Rockling we appreciate that and understand the reasons for the change. But with tide tables as they are a bit of for thought we could have arranged the match a bit better. The original plan was to fish elsewhere due to the demand to have the match more easterly the venue was changed. It was agreed monknash was a decent venue and fishing well and the date had been set. A good few of us made the neccessary arrangements to ensure we could attend and now with short notice the times and date have changed causing a bit of dissapointment or non attendance. Congaqueen and I were looking forward to fishing this venue. SBM's idea was a great idea and with everybody sticking their two penneth in I am sure we can in the future prepare better so that that every one can be accomadated and we can all meet up and have a fish. The league is in its infancy and we are going to experience teething problems but I am sure we can iron these out and get on with the original concept of meeting up and fishing.

i agree with kellogs, we will find a solution sooner or later so dont scrap it yet :)
King Of Leon
08-03-2007, 20:42
i know the tides are good for monknash on the 17th but its the times that are awkward, so i would suggest we change the venue ,fish earlier and revert back to the 25th even if it means fishing somewhere like the knap. after all most comps aren't always at the venues which will produce the most fish and are aimed more at the anglers being able to catch fish using scratching tactics and all there tactical knowhow. :g:

i have to be honest i am almost gonna jack it all in.
im gonna ask what time low tide is on the 25th, at monknash, any1??
then im gonna have the match in the day on that date as i 1st said, then going to think long and hard wether this is worth all the trouble and hassle i get for trying to bring anglers together. what would you lot do??
il organise it for the 25th soon as i got the tide times,

Hi superbassmaster just had a look for you mate low water on the 25th is is 1654 mate tight lines
SBM - There were always going to be teething problems from the start, just as kellogs mentioned, but you need to work through these and take on board the praise and critism to make this into what you and we hoped it can be, for the better of the league. No offence, if you don't feel up to it then pass it on to someone else, but idf you do stick with it, we appreciate it, but we need to work through these problems now so they don't crop up in future and we enshure good turnouts.
Now I've done my pep talk, I'mm off to get widdled down the pub.:clap2: :clap2:
a good idea for everyone involved, e.g. this match fishing east, so everyone in that area with general knowledge of fishing around that coast, state for the best place to fish, tide that suits this venue for around the last saturday/sunday of each month so everyone knows where they stand, this will then make it easier for most people to make the matches, and obviously for the younger generation, earlier the match the better....hopefully then there will be no arguements and make it easier for everyone that will like to get involved, i my self would of liked to fish monknash, but then again its not that easy for everyone, thanks again to SBM for the planning for this.. stick in there mate wel get there in the end!!! cheers Neil
After a few pints I've changed my mind, SBM if you wanna throw you teddies then get down the arcades to win some more!!!!!lol.
Only joking, let's have some constructive answers to some posing questions and come up with a good Eastern venue for the 25th. Personally, I would op for an early start at Ogmore Deeps to make surre we all get on there. Deep water, safe and chances of late winter species, big conger and rays and there will always be doggies??
We have to make sure people turn up if they can, we're all used to blanking these days, so does fishing somewhere where we should catch make a difference? Most of the guys who fished with rockling the other day at Monknash at what was supposed to be 'peak times' blanked. And as we all know, sometimes the fish aren't guaranteed. So why not enjoy ourselves and 'hopefully' catch. I know rockling fished it at the best times from experience, but as I'm sure he will agree, all the planning and knowledge can't guarantee the fish.
Note to Kellogs & Congaqueen - I'm coming up your way in June, and would love for you to show me and the missus a tidy mark, she's not convinced and I'm hoping congaqueen will provide a ladies persuasion to get my missus into it???

yep,but noticed a few of the west meets were planned as rovers.WHATS THE POINT
of a meet,if youre not going to meet?
strange.over and out.
lost my teddies many years ago so i cant throw them out of my pram.
BUT,ill be honest, when my jacko lost his right hand,i cried for weeks.

andy, its a league, and i would like to fish rovers as then you are not limited to fishing marks that you can only get all of us on, even then this is never garaunteed in the summer months due to holiday makers etc, so a rover means we can fish where they want. yes its a meet but there money and points at stake too, and all will meet at weigh in and at booking in too.
lads, im goping to have it at monknash still on the 25tyh in the afternoon, as planned originally, then after that we will have to put our heads together a bit to make this work, i dont wanna jack it in as i enjoy it, just bothers me when i dont get things right first time, im the same with everything, so new post here i come, like it or lump it lol
