Looking for somewhere closeish to belfast to do some shore (rock or pier) fishing
on the august bank holiday for an hour or two...

I always pretty pushed for time hence the need for somewhere closeby... I had good success at dunseverick 2 weeks ago but its a little too far to go for 2 hours fishing...
you end up spending longer driving than fishing....

I had heard goodish reports on glenarm rocks from the belfast angling centre - can anyone here confirm that - i rather not beachcast if poss altho i know its feasible at glenarm beach.

where abouts are the rocks at glenarm - or is there somewhere else worth trying..

i don't shore fish much but i believe the rocks at glenarm are the big solid things beside the big wet bit! :) seriously, try the rocks at the bottom of dalriada park(i think but its dalriada somthing)at cushundun or the pier at portmuck or bangor pier or waterfoot pier or.........

Have you considered Blackhead?

Fish the flat rocks below the lighthouse, its rough in close but reasonably clean beyond that with deep water right at your feet.

Park at Whitehead and its a 20 minute walkto the mark.

Good thing is that it should soon be abandoned by the summer headhunters!

Dunno - but the 20minsx2 walk cuts down on my limited fishing time ..

I just caught a 25lb Conger from there last night. Well worth the 20min walk if you ask me. Besides, 20 minutes would just about get yoy to Brows Bay or just beyond Larne so you really dont loose that much time.

Alright Declan?

I fish these marks every week and I have been having some good luck of late.

I've just been away on hols for two weeks so I am itching to get back into it.

Portmuck at high tide is a good spot, wrasse, cod, mackeral, pouting and doggies are good.

Waterfoot Pier is fishing well but Glenarm beach has been poor.

I find it best to alternate between these marks.

Good luck
