View Full Version : Meet and Greet, Session
The return of the meet, and greet sessions, the first is planned for May 6th, at Wormit ,for a flattie fishing session.
Venue Wormit .
Meet Beach road .
Times Meet 14.00hrs, Fish 15.00hrs- 19.30hrs.
All welcome , come and meet fellow members , meet new angling pals, and ask as much questions as you want.
Over to you people,:) :)
i should be able to make it
i need to drop off grandkids first , pitlochry of all places
ps
should this no be in the meets section
I'll be around. My seven year old has just got a new rod combo and is looking forward to trying it out. Do you mean Bay Road rather than beach road deepsix? Bottom of Bay Road after going underneath the railway bridge, in front of wormit house is a good place to meet as there is plenty of parking. Water was very clear today and wanted to go for a spin, but was helping out at the sailing club.
Nick
umm after today is it going to be wise to fish wormit with a the urban ramblers parkin cars and doggie walker and letin them in water right where ya fishing
what about balmerino nice long strech without numptys
and may being a bank holiday weekend i think
just a suggestion tho

Have a good one guys - I will be at Scrabster that weekend - maybe next time !! :)
I may be wrong but is it not very difficult to park around Balmarino.
Yes it is a holiday weekend , the venue is not cast in stone it is only a suggested venue , therefore can I suggest a change of venue, Kingsbarns beach .
Over to you people, high water around 18.05hrs, so perhaps meeting at car-park at 14.00, and fish from 15.00hrs- 19.30hrs.

I think the locals would say something if 20 cars turned up looking to park at Balmerino.
Kingsbarns is usually quite busy in the summer with the public & is a bit hit or miss fishing wise too.
Might be better off sticking with the Tay, but on the Dundee side. At least there's plenty of room.

dundee side plenty of room but i would go to wormit
what about elliot beach theres plenty of room
chance of catchin turbot and bass n loads of flatties
If we meet at the end of Bay Road, there are loads of places to park just off Bay Road. If there are too many people walking dogs etc.. I can guide you to marks at Riverside Gardens and down by the sailing club (although the sailors will be out). Also just walking along the shore towards the rail bridge are plenty or marks and no one will disturb you there.
Water this weekend was very clear and so fishing could be good.
Nick
Would love to come but am away offshore on that date, Oh well maybe catch anotherone, hope everyone has a good day.
arranging a meet for a crowded beach on a bank holiday weekend?
i suggest someplace less busy and less accesible to the casual rambler. dundee sounds good as there is plenty of room and plenty of fishing to be done there. or how about the arbroath cliff marks?

1.wormit is not that busy .path is away from the shore
2.dundee is more busy with , joggers, skayeboarders, cycles, football , families , dog walkers
3.arbroath cliffs to spread out for a meet
We can all meet in the car-park at the side of the Tay bridge, Fife side , at 14.00hrs , and take it from there.
As has been suggested Wormit has lots of marks ,we can only give it a try , we are anglers after all , nothing ventured ,nothing gained.
hi,
i will try my best too attend also. im keeping an eye on posts and the exact location
anywhere suits me, so i will go with the flow :).

Me an' aw ;)
hi, is that the carpark on the Fife side down by the Takeaway/cafe .
wee bit help required.
is there plenty off space at this mark ? i usually fish 2 rods or would 1 be safer ? im guessing around 10 people will be fishing.
what species are most likely to be caught and what tackle will be required , best rigs, hook sizes , weights , baits , is ground rough , kelpy , sandy etc . as ive no idea what im aiming too catch , if anything lol.
thanx.
sorry for all the questions but if i dont ask i will never know lol.
Andy.
plenty of room for fishing 2 rod will be safe speicies caught flatties and odd sea trout tackle needed would be flattie rigs with either makky or herring last time i also took rags but nothing doing on rags
ground muddy where fishing into but walking ground is shingle and sandy
not a hard current i only used 4 oz weights on light gear
and bound to see the odd idiot in a speed boat thinking there mr it
but thats about it

yes it is turn off from bridge to tayport/newport.
adeys thank you for info , hooks sizes i use size 2 - 2/0 both oshaugnessy and aberdeens .
speices:mostly flatties with codling , eels , sea trout thrown in
bait: fish baits , worms etc
weights , 4 - 5oz grippers if you want.
ground is mix of silt and kelp as tide comes
plenty of room it stretches right along

I reported you missing about a month ago :secret:
I'm afraid that was the result of me trying to save some dosh by swapping ISPs.The old one cut off on the 20th of march and the new one was meant to come on two days later,(or about that),and of course one went off,but the other didn't come on.Many phone calls and moans later it took till yesterday to get it sorted.Of course a couple of weeks ago my pal Goony tells me he'd seen a program on the telly that said the one I'd swapped to was bowllocks.Just in time then eh?

Aye Jason true.
It might be easier meeting in the car park, as if there's a pile of us turn up, there will be more room.
Can't think of a decent sized car park in Wormit, so better to leave things as they are.

That's an oldie Bob
its wet n windy today
pretty much typical
Just back water very dirty , wind very strong .
First cast a good rattle , next cast produces a flounder 1/2 lb not bad start , then Wullie gets off the mark with a postage size flonder the bait was bigger, then he gets aanother a bit bigger this time , I get a carbon copy of Wullies second fish .
Then the rain , comes on , and wind rises, time to go.
