hey all, i'm gonna fish pevensey bay next friday night, can't do sat as i'm off to jersey early sunday, will get there about 6, so just before low (6.8m tide) which will enable some bait digging over low water,

high tide around 1.30am, good chance of bass, sole, and the poss of early hound on this ground, be worth getting some crab i reckon,

who's up for a mini meet then ?

TOM PARKER

So where abouts are we fishing then CP, still the Bay or you up for venturing a bit further??

crazyplums
27-04-2007, 12:27
i quite fancy where i fished with steve the other night, down near cooden end, i just know it's gonna produce something nice !

TOM PARKER

Ah a "secret" location, better keep it under your hat and blind fold me when we go there! My phone is on o2 and pay as you w*nk so should be able to get a signal for the fishathon.

I'll be down a bit later than 6pm but will aim to get there for that time, it's more likely that I'll be down by 7pm latest. Can be pump lug from the secret mark or will you be heading to the bay? I'll be dropping into Danglers Den to get some rag and frozen sand eels.

I've heard alot about pevensey bay BUT it's a 2 hr drive for me to get there. If i was gonna come down i'd want to fish all night a get an hour or so shut eye before driving back.

shonzy... can do all night if ya like, certainly til about 6am (not much water after that !) i've not done an all nighter for ages !

Tom, i'll go straight there unless i need owt from the den, directions are pretty easy from the bay, not so much a secret location, but it ain't fished much until the hounds are in, and only a few people then, i reckon it'll throw something nice up soon !

TOM PARKER

CP - I was on the wind up about the "secret location" - getting into the swing of things from previouse threads and people getting slated about "secret marks". Very dry sarcasm.

SP - I have an hours drive each way and for me that means (well as my girlfriend is away and yes you could park your car on the thumb print!) I can do what I like and I don't fancy driving home at ??am. I'll bring along some food and stay until the morning and maybe venture to a Pier in the am to catch some Gar/Macky/Bass?

CP - let me know where it is you'll be and if I can pump lug fron there and I'll see you down there. I have an OS map for the area so just let me know exactly where you'll be and I'll see you down there. I'll bring the BBQ too as the Chinese will be closed at HT!

Yep T/Wells for me, down the A21 and then cut above Bexhill and round the back roads top the bay. I'll bell you sometime this week in the evening, when I have an OS map out.

I might be able to make this one.

The Mrs said there was something in the paper about hundreds of dead fish being found at Normans Bay.

Steve.

crazyplums
30-04-2007, 14:41
not heard about that one steve, was doing a quick ob down anglers den earlier and it wasn't mentioned, when were they found ? don't think there's been a match since last sunday (22nd), even so, unlikely to be hundreds of fish in the daytime,

maybe washed in from bycatch returns ?

Steve_640
30-04-2007, 19:06
Dug out the paper she was reading- "Around 400 fish are beleived to have died after sewage entered the water at Wallers Haven." Although these will have been freshwater fish, is this not the water coming out of the pipe?

Steve.

crazyplums
30-04-2007, 19:10
oh, not good, both alice's pipe, and a pipe further down, are freshwater, alice's is the main river outlet, and the smaller ones are generally the marsh run offs, most likely alice's pipe i'd've though, often see dead pike, sheep and other stuff in the pool infront of it at low tide,

The tide's are ***** for me to go out in my boat this w-end so i maybe able to come.
I should be finishing work at about midday too.

hmmm does this bode badly for this Friday?

i wouldn't have thought it'd make much difference Tom, i would guess that if it was last week, and the fish have already ended up in the sea, then the polluted water would have been long gone by now, hopefully headed to france !

Shonzy, be good if ya made it.

TOM PARKER
01-05-2007, 10:26
That's what I thought, the sea is pretty big and the tides would have washed it out pretty quick.

So it's CP & Shonzy (if he can make it), anyone else coming along? CP is Smoothy around much these days, Roy s etc. . .? Steve said he might come along too.

crazyplums
01-05-2007, 10:50
no answer yet from roy or chris (zzr), smoothy is coming, steve640 i think, poss a couple of others.

weather at mo shows force 2-4 north easterlies, with clear skies, temp tween 14c and 11c overnight, bodes well at the mo, if the wind swing s/w, w, n/w we'd be better at white horses, but i think we'll be ok.

Have a good one lads. I haven't paid a visit over Pevensey way since the last TE extravaganza in Feb so fancy a trip over soon. If my planned mark for Friday night proves a no-go then I'll either trek over to join you or head west to where I believe Geffaz and Smutthunter are going to fish.

Mark, you just know you'll have better company over here !!!!!! we'll be there all night, well, i guess some of us will be, :-)

Mark_S

The thing is, Hugh, I always think of the Bay as a cold weather venue. What is likely to be caught?

crazyplums
01-05-2007, 17:41
erm, in my last two visits, i've had bass (schoolies, but bigger have been caught), baby thornbacks, sole, plaice, flounder, pout, dab, and err, oh, that might be it !

the may rot is kicking in, so it will be slow going, but not fishless i would hope, we're only a few weeks away from the usual smothound arrival time, so we may get lucky and get an early one, poss doggies, though needs to be a bit rough for them to show close in,

ya know ya wanna!!!!!

TOM PARKER
03-05-2007, 11:50
Hugh - as HT is so late I'm going to pull out of this meet as I really want to fish as long as possible so gona go down to Brighton Marina West Arm for the night and try and catch my first squid. Also want to float fish in the evening and early morning.

I'll be up for a Pevensey meet in a few weeks time when the May rot is gone and the fishing heats up a bit and we should have finished doing the flat up thus freeing up my weekends, at last!

Good luck and I'll catch up with you soon as I want some reflective tape off you.

I do wanna but I've now had my first choice venue confirmed for the fishathon so I'll stick to my original plans. Lets try for a TE Pevensey meet later in the month or early June?

Hi Mark - sound good to me. Would be good to catch up and fish with all of the TE crew.

Good luck Mark at your secret destination, after Thornies are you?

Nope - not Thornies....Maybe doggies and schoolies, perhaps even an early hound - outside chance of a pollack.

How did you get on guys??

as per report on the live fishathing !

Hguh

well i just got in from our cooden 'woodyard' session, fished from 7.30pm low, to 3.30am, hw at 1.15am, sorry there were no reports, my phone wouldn't work !

in the end, Shonzy (portsmouth way) and pal joined myself and weehaggis and his mrs, not many fish i'm afraid, seems that was the way for most of the posts on here ?

unfortunately shonzy and pal blanked, but they're on their way to brighton marina now in the hope of altering that !

wee haggis has had a rockling and a 33cm bass, he's still fishing, or was when we left),

i started with a tiny rockling to rag, then a double shot of a 33cm sole (lug) and a small thornback ray (sandeel) of about 27cm across the wings, then later a pout of about 12oz, and finally on my close range bass rod, i had a very unexpected small doggy of about a 1lb on sandeel, so 5 species in all,

used sandeel, rag, lug, and macky, at varying distances (mostly at long range apart from the bass rod), the early hound didn't materialise, but i did get a chance to use fishyrobs d-vice thingy, it meant i didn't have to wrap up the big squid/rag baits, and could leave a heaving bunch of wriggly worms just head hooked, blast it right out, i shortened the lead end of a couple of pulley rigs so the hook length was longer, stuffing it into the tube, which incidentally coped well with whole squid and rag on a 6/0 pennel, it worked really well, even in the strong tide, so thanks to rob for letting me try it out ! must make some better rigs for it now !

anyways, i hope ya'll had a good time, i did !
