We'll be lucky to get 6 cars in there, it's more of a lay-by.
I'll phone the golf club this week & ask them. Shouldn't be a problem though, as any mag article i've read about elliot says to park at the golf club.

There is plenty of parking on the other side of the road from the railway bridge and the golf course car park is pretty big too. I am on holiday that week so will probably pop down and visit my folks at the same time.
Never fished the beach in all the years I spent in Arbroath but from what I have been told the stretch to the south of the river is better but someone may correct me on that.

Em bait wise lug, mackeral, maddies and crab is my advise crab or maddies for the bass. Your ok parking in the golf course carpark keep driving past it towards the greenkeepers sheds and theirs a crossing over the railway, please take care as this could be the end of that crossing if someone abuses it. For this meet can I make a suggestion, everyone fishes with lightish rigs and basstype rods to maximise the fun side of flounder and turbot fishing. Rigs wise three hooks flapping 10lb snoods 20lb main bodys and 1 to 2oz waits with between size 2 n 4 hooks.

Thanks Chris.
I don't think many of us have fished Elliot before.
Looks like i'm tying up a pile of lighter rigs for this one, as the lightest i have is 15lb snood & 60lb main.

Sorry folks cant make it - got a tope trip that day :schmoll:
I have fished it a couple of times and had about a dozen flounders and a small bass - I would suggest s/z 2 hooks (Aberdeens or other thin wire) , 3 hook flapper with beads on the bottom 2 hooks , rag , lug and herring have all caught fish.
If fishing 2 rods - throw one far out and one close in.
Good luck :)

Just read an old article bout Elliot beach that i kept from an old tsf mag (bout 2yrs old maybe). Was by Alan combe, he stressed that most of the flatties there take a moving bait and fishing light if possible is preferred.
He reckons try 30yds at first, then edge the cast in now and then to alert the fish. Cast further if required until fish are located. Also suggests different baits on each hook at first to see whats preferred on the day.
Sounds good advice to me...... cheers Alan

The weather's a bit doubious Ian, with heavy rain & stormy conditions forecast.
Wait & see if the forecast changes midweek & we'll take it from there .

diamond dave

I've had a look at the long range forecast for Sunday guys & there's no mention of any thunderstorms.
It looks as though it will be dry, overcast, with sunny spells, so here's hoping.

Ok im up for it in any weather as im really looking forward to it. Cant say 100 per cent if my mate Tony is going, so may require a lift. Petrol money and bait for the taxi driver if needed.
By the way Dave i think your Flu's migrated to B/island, I feel crap!!!!

Just got a txt from diamond dave- he wont make it on sun (still not well). Also his pc is goosed and cant get on forum.
My mate and i are still up for it, but if anybody wants to move it forward to another date cause of the weather, then that options always open. what does everyone think??.

Ok then, i take it nobody fancies elliot tommorow, so if its ok with everyone the meet will be put to another date.
Not sure if a lot of people were going tommorow, but if anybody changes there mind or has any ideas then post up.
In the meantime i think Culross is on for a small meet tommorow with big scottie if anybody fancies chucking a line. So i think im up for that....

Two clubs fished Elliot on the 17th Ardrossan and Silver Lure

A good day was had by Silver Lure Members all caught fish.
species caught were Bass,Flounder,Dabs,Plaice, and Sea Trout

The majority of fish were below the legal taking size best bags were 6 legal sized flounders
Cod to nearly 3lb turned up as well

and the majority of fish were returned alive

Two club juniors participated both catching Bass and flounder

baits used were rag, lug, mackerel and razor fish

Did not get the result of Ardrossan outing but they appeared to be catching plenty also

missed a good day

Ok i am on hols from 16th jul for a fortnight as is my mate tony. Would anybody fancy giving elliot beach a go during that time since the last meet was cancelled.
If not, then how about a meet of some sort that appeals to all.

Any ideas would be great. lets get it on......
