ok,
fishyrob, empty your pm's !!!!
time for a proper big meet !
pm's have been sent out, for now the meet is invitational, no offence is intended to those who've not received one yet, but it was decided to be sure to include our regulars, return a some hospitality to those who've hosted team extreme members, and to make sure those originally interested get first refusal.
this is a private booking only. only names on the list, will be getting on the boat, simple, so please don't tell everyone there's a meet on the breakwater and to turn up, they'll not get on. end of. :kissing:
I have booked the trip for friday 27th july, its an all nighter, and will cost £15 all in. 8pm out, 8.30am back. once i have returns from the invites, i'll know how many spare places are going to be offered. and i'll post the full details of the trip,
if you're interested, but haven't been pm'd, and you're sure you can go, then leave you name on here, it'll be on a first come first served basis, there are only a few spaces left (we've limited it to 30), so no time to hesitate, equally, no messing either please, simple yes or no and you name, questions can be pm'd to me, if spare spaces are available, payment is in advance only.
thanks.
Hugh

big prob now, you should have all had a pm, but for those who havent seen it, the date has had to change to the alternative, fri 10th aug, due to a double booking.
sorry if this inconveniences anyone.
hopefully now we can get the brighton trip swapped to the old dover weekend, saving a marathon 48hr session for those of us going to both !

he'll be ok !! it doesn't move around too much,
btw, should the event be cancelled due to weather (i'll have to call them after the shipping forecast at midday, on the day), then we can simply return the moneys paid, or carry it over to another date, they won't take us out, or will come and get us, if the weather is likely to be a force 6, having fished in a 4 the other day, i can understand why !
cheers.

I have some basic questions regarding safety;
1) Is it railed off?
2) Do they have life rings?
3) Will there be more than one person with the lifeboat number?
4) Is there an action plan if things do go pear shaped?
5) Is there a toilet there?
6) If I don't catch will I get the wooden spoon prize!?

hi dude,
1), metal railings on the outside, metal/wire rope railings on the inside.
2), yes, lots.
3), yes, 999. ask for coastguard
4), we can still have a meet, be a shame not to do something with the night / evening if the worst happens, 15 mins up the road is deal, some fairly deep water there from the beach, poss other piers, deal was very very snaggy last time i was there though !
5), 2 toilets, one each end, though you can sneak down the steps if you don't wanna walk 200yrds from the middle, personally, i wouldnt use em after dark, spooky enough in the day !!
6) definitely.

One more question, is it a "walk off", i.e. draw numbers, number 1 fishes where he/she wants, then number 2 etc, or do we all scarper to the Knuckle and fish on top of each other???? For those who don't know, the knuckle is the hotspot, pegs 1-13, fierce tide, and on occasions can be easier just to empty the contents of your tackle box over the side, rather than get snagged up each cast! :)
crazyplums

i wasn't planning a 'walk off' as you put it, on tuesday the knuckle didn't fish particularly well, i guess that only current reports of the time will suggest where is fishing better, of the prizes i intend to award, only a few will be for the top 3 fish, the others will be for other things, such as who catch a fish nearest to a certain weight (ie pot luck), etc or maybe a biggest of each species, so i don't really think that one spot will win everything !
with 30 of us, there'll be room to spread out the entire length of the wall, due to the tides it would be suicide to fish ontop of each other, me personally... i'm happy to fish the middle ! and probably will, i guess we can do a walk off if people prefer, but the majority will not know the wall or it's hot spots,
dunno !
If it's a walk off, as I can only do 1mph, can I have a 200 yard start please?
Oh and also can someone carry my gear? Carry me? Set up my rods? Bait my hooks? Just generally skivvy?
If you don't ask you don't get. It took me a long time to learn that.
I fully expect the answer to be NO! But what the hell.:clap2::clap2:

please can all concerned get back to me with a yes or no for the trip, Smoothy (marco) and I, will be opening an account this week hopefully, then moneys can be collected, and details finalilised,
if you're not going, please say so, that way we can extend the invite to others who may want to go, first invites have gone out to those who fish with us on semi regular basis, friends, or those who we felt would benefit from the experience on the breakwater,
again... if you want to go, and haven't been invited, please post your names as we're limiting the trip to 30, and only a few places are available at present. it will be on a first come first served basis.
please consider.... if the south vs south east takes place on brighton marina on the 11th, you're in for a long one ! the wall has been booked by myself, head out around 8pm, back around 8.30am, no getting off !
thanks...
Hugh

I have a full first aid kit and am a qualified first aider but ........... PLEASE, I really don't want to use it lol (and you certainly don't want to hear the alarm siren :help:)
My work manager will be needing the kit soon if he doesn't attach a signature to my holiday form :D.

just walk into his office, look all teary eyed, and give him a big hug, saying, "oh thank you for signing the holiday form, it means so much", turn, and walk out. he'll be so stunned that you'll get the time off !!!
lol

you wouldn't be able to fish very well in a straight jacket!
I'm in Hugh for the 11th August.
As there will be a few of us going would it be a good idea to get a bulk bait order from somewhere like baits direct? I know the main stay for bait will be fresh crab (hardbacks & peelers) with the obligatory lug, rag, squid and macky. It's the crab collection that will cause me a headache as I have no more holiday to take the Friday off in order to collect crabs during the day before hand.
Could anyone arrange for a bulk order locally for the group or just me if people want to get bait themselves?

HI Tom, i''m collecting crabs in earnest now anyways, and lug will be easy enough to dig at that time of year, i'm sure marco and i can sort it out, depends how many people want, i could get a bulk order from anglers den i guess ?
as for crabs, just let me know how many you want, cover my fuel and they're yours.
the main thing will be getting local info anyways, the hounds may be gone then, in which case i'll concentrate on bass !

Nice one thanks CP and no worries covering your petrol for crabs.

hugh, if you could sort something out in the way of bulk order at the den or baits direct that would be wicked!! i will only want some crab, lug and squid.

i can't promise everyone crab, but lug and squid no problems, we'll sort it nearer the time.
Any info, Hugh, on how essential crab is likely to be? I doubt I'll have any left by then and there'll be none to collect anywhere except that it occurs to me that last year's marina meet was around the end of July and we had shedloads of spider peelers then so maybe our crab requirements could be sorted at the 28 July meet? And if the spiders have stopped peeling by then or by the time 10 August comes around the hounds will like as not be gone.
crazyplums
14-06-2007, 13:45
the crab i use are theremost of the year, but i'm unlikely to go mad after them once the hounds have gone, i'm planning a trip to the rocks tomorrow, maybe even one this evening, if i can get enough proper spider peelers (they're showing now) then i'll freeze them down in airtight bags for use later on.
as for how much use they'll be, we can only answer that nearer the time,
Hugh
I would like to put 3 names on the list:

Bungy.Byrne

i've been asked whether or not we want hot food doing on the night on the breakwater, i imagine this'll be hot dogs, burgers etc,
if the majority ask for it, i'll see about arranging it.
Re monies due for the trip, you've all been pm'd with the details of the trip, i would like the monies all banked by 28th july (brighton meet) at the latest, otherwise spaces will be offered elsewhere,
this may seem harsh, but i cannot afford for people to not turn up, if you pay, you go. if you don't pay, you won't go. sorry.
Fishyrob.
Your PM box is still full, you need to clear some space for new PM's
