Mick - great article mate - loved it.
I have heard a few guys talking about fishing for bass on the fly and I have seen it on TV but I couldn't get my head around fly fishing in the sea.
I have a fly rod 8-9 weight and a basic fly reel that I use sporadically when I go out trout fishing, I have only ever caught 1 Rainbow (1.5lbs). Earlier this year my pal from Scotland gave me a few more old - but good - reels, so I have the kit to give it a bash. My knowledge of fly fish is limited but I have got my casting to an acceptable level (I think).
Your article has really got me thinking about giving it a bash but I think this time of year might not be good?
Anyways - I'll continue to consider it but I find it a bit daunting because I am used to heavy gear for beach/rocks/pier.
Maybe soon.....
GG
