Being as the winter fishing is getting worse and worse every year in the channel, would people be interested in doing a few trips down exmouth, or that area, wreck fishing. When you think how much it costs you for petrol, bait etc the average shore trip during winter costs £30 usually for a few pin whiting, then add another £30 quid if your out on a boat and its alot of money for just a few whiting/codling:blink:
If 3/4 share a car down to exmouth it wont be much more than a tenner each, then £45/50 for the boat,so it works out the same price but the fishing can be alot better:) It would only be once or twice during the winter, and if its successfull maybe a couple of times in the summer after the cod aswell:yeah:

Just a thought at the moment but i'm up for it and i know one other who is, so if theres enough interest i will start making enquiries:)

Count me in, I normally use the Smuggler 5 during the year from Exmouth, I can also recomend Dave Bond down in Looe on the Mystique 2.
Also Gemini 2 with Dave Harrison from Dartmouth is an excellent skipper.

I'd be up for a bit of that as well. Certainly Exmouth boats seem to do well judgeing by the amount of photos in the Shimano comp in the Sea Angler.

I was stationed just up the road from Exmouth when I was in the Royal Marines so I know how easy it is to get there. Only trouble was it was so long ago that there were no charter boats operating from there then! have you made any enquires regarding dates as I would imagine these charter boats are quite popular? have you contacted any of the lads on the south west forums for info?

Its a pity that the boats in the bristol channel dont do wrecking trips in the winter, according to Mike snr, theres untapped potential? but all the boats stick to inshore fishing!

I can recommend a great boat & skipper out of torquay if you want to go that far down. http://www.britishcongerclub.org.uk/news/CBFEATUREJUBRAE.htm

I've had an email back off one of the skippers, he said most of the fishing during the winter is inshore for whiting rays etc. The best time for the wrecks would be end of feb till end of april.

The skipper had a drum on deck, & all the anglers rowed in time with the beat, & if they slowed down, the first mate used to go around with a whip, hence the expression "a quick whip around for the skipper"!:roll1:
Who was your C.O. in the marines? Boadacea?:roll1:

Not the dreaded Paid4 with his name down? are you going out on the wreck you intend to fish? Sorry John, I will soon be back on the road, & be able to focus your efforts in one place again, I have the time to do the repairs!:nonono:
