View Full Version : Fishing Lanzarote
Hi guys,
I am being dragged off to lanzarote for a week in November and would like to take in a spot of boat fishing, there will be four of us and I dont want to fall for one of the tourist trap boats that take loads of ppl out who sit and watch the skipper catch fish.
So any advice would be mucho appreciated.
Thanks
Mariek

Hi Mariek,
Got dragged off to Lanzarote myself in June but really enjoyed it did all the tourist things like going to see live volcano, camel ride, went on submarine (good crack), but also got a days fishing on a boat called Ana Segundo out of Porto del Carmen. Look on www.discoverlanzarote.com. We trolled big muppet lures looking for Marlin, shark etc but caught nothing. When we got out to anchor for bottom fishing I caught a small fish like a small pollock. The skipper hooked this through head an freelined it and I caught a Bonito (type of tuna). Lots of small fish caught at anchor and two Bonito.
I was picked up from my hotel driven to the boat, got a few beers and a ham & cheese roll on board and dropped back to hotel after was out from 9.00a.m and came back in about 4.00.p.m. all for 60 euro --- not bad at all.
You can also buy bait and lures in a shop just down from where you register for the boat and fish off the rocks all around the coast -- just watch the locals to get your spots.
Good luck enjoy and let us know how u get on.

Hi Marie
Could I suggest you try posting to the Caranx (http://www.caranx.net/forums/index.php?showforum=9) web site. The administrator - Nicola - based in Madrid, has a wealth of knowledge of fishing the Canaries.
You may well find that, as well as trolling opportunities, you can try deep water jigging for species like Amberjack. Tremendous sport! As well, certainly around the other islands, you can catch things like huge Rays, Conger Eels and possibly Six Gill Shark bottom fishing.
Best of Luck

Thanks for the advice will certainly follow those up and let you know how i get on.

You'll need a regional fishing licence for sea fishing. The licence, called a 'Licencia de Pesca - Maritima de Recreo'

15ib 18ib but use clear mono unless you will never catch much we have had kingfish of the rocks to 35ib and that shark in the pic of el golfo of the rocks as well useing a 4ft garfish as live bait.
Hi nemosharktale !
Did you use a float with the live garfish bait or just free lined it?
Did you have a metal trace, and what size hook did you use with the garfish?
Thanks!
