View Full Version : south east vs south coast the return
the return match will be held at Tilbury power station.
date tba, and please dont start saying what days you can and cant fish.
fish
flounders, soles, bass and eels(which dont count)
bait
maddies, lug and rag (crab is not essential)
set up
2 rods max 4 hooks
Generally it is tackle friendly and fish can be caught at short and long range. You will be fishing of a grass bank so bring wellies if it has ben raining as the grass is uncut. I will try and peg the match before hand. Also you dont have to pay to fish unless you want to an optional pool of biggest score (point to size ratio) and biggest flat and biggest round.
Parking will be at End of World Car park in Tilbury but please try to get as few cars as possible as the car park is small.
Just spoken to Thames Rover if the tides are above 5metres at Southend then the power station is unfishable as the water covers the grass. So depending on the tides the venue might be moved to Grays (its next to Tilbury so bait and type of fish stays the same).
The reason why I want to fish this area is
1) It holds fish
2) Easy casting
3) Easy access for everybody
4) You dont get soaked by the waves
5) Grays easy parking short walk to fishing area (2-3 minutes)
6) Not a tackle graveyard
7) Pub 5 minute walk from Grays location (10 minute walk from Tilbury location)

Depending on the date I should be up for that but please don't peg me anywhere near Thames Rover, he's a bloody eel magnet :bleh:
You have topick your own pegs,so you could have eel magnet one side of you and 'crackoff' Ash on the other

I'm OK for any weekend at the moment except 1st September
well done again to everyone who fished last night, especially those who stuck it out in what were challenging conditions at best
dan and I are going back down tonight if anyone else is about, probably about 9pm, see if we can get some hounds up in easier conditions
I'll be there to bring the South team average down provided its a clear weekend for me.

Hi mate...I see you had another blinder :).....We do lesons now on a Saturday morning.Ray said did you want to sign up for 12 and get one free? :):kissing:
My form couldn't get much worse at the moment Ron
Thanks for the offer of lessons but I would be surprised if Ray actually remembers how to use a fishing rod and I would be very worried what else I might get for free
still, at least gay Dan won a prize in his first ever comp, it was a good job you never came down though, all that water would have ruined your stilettos

No worries Jason - only got a few photcopies of those but if you pm me your address I'll gladly post some to you and you can get more made up. I have two versions - the full one which includes everything, and the version I did for the match which excludes gars and eels. I can let you have the scorecard I made up in Word if you want as well. The one that included the rules and the NFSA limits. It'll only need a bit of tweaking.
Oops - replied before seeing Misfit's posts. If you still want the size to points sheets let me know. I will email the scorecard to Misfit tonight.
Mark,
could you email me the scorecard we used on saturday and I will get some run off for Jason for the return leg when we know the dates and venue
Thanks
Not a problem, mate. Can you pm me your email address - just went to send it to you via your profile and you've specified no emails.

couldn't make the brighton trip coz of a boat trip, never got out though:uhuh:
if the dates ok i'll come along if it's ok with you lot:unsure:....dave.
It'll be good to see you there dave, come along mate:)
Earlier you can fix a date the easier it'll be to get a good turnout. Like a few others, I have to book weekend trips well in advance otherwise I find myself doing social and family stuff.
The date is either the 8th or 15th of sept (which is a saturday) I havn't got a tide table book at the moment as I need the time and height of high tide. Also if we fish Grays we need to be there before low water to stop other anglers from fishing as you cant reserve the wharf
After checking my tide table we will be fishing the 8th of September at Tilbury from 21.30 to 02.00. High tide is around midnight and the depth at Southend is 5.4 metres.
Parking at the Worlds end pub and meet at 20.00 outside pub.
Well good luck everyone. Unfortunately i wont be able to make it as i will probably be dead from taking part in the Great River Race (22miles...have i mentioned that? lol).
Good luck all!
well to make everybody happy these are the choices
dates sat 8th sept high tide 11.04 am tide 5.0
sat 8th sept high tide 23.43 pm tide 5.4
sun 9th sept high tide 12.03 pm tide 5.4
sat 15th sept high tide 03.21 am tide 5.6
sat 15th sept high tide 15.30 pm tide 5.6
sun 16th sept high tide 03.48 am tide 5.5
sun 16th sept high tide 15.59 pm tide 5.5
The saturday 8th am tide could be fished at Tilbury as its not a very high tide, the 5.5 metres and above would have to be Grays on one of the wharfs (which means no rodrests)
I can fish any of these tides but then im not travelling from the south coast and having to get back home afterwards, so I will leave the descision up to you lot

I can do :
sat 15th sept high tide 03.21 am tide 5.6
sat 15th sept high tide 15.30 pm tide 5.6
sun 16th sept high tide 03.48 am tide 5.5
sun 16th sept high tide 15.59 pm tide 5.5
its not for to decide I want a poll with everybody picking 1 and only tide to fish

Tick Tock! :)
its not for to decide I want a poll with everybody picking 1 and only tide to fish
sorry, should have said: its not me to decide a poll would be useful with everybody picking 1 tide they would like to fish.
I know I said on the other thread I preferred the evening tide on 8th Sept but I forgot a family do my wife reminded of when I got home from work!
So my vote is for Saturday 15th, 15.30 tide.

sorry lee, can't do them dates.holiday and another forum meet.(dover)
good luck to all who do go.......dave.
So far its sat 15th at 15.30.
Im going to leave the choice available till the end of the week and the date and time with the most votes will be picked.
sorry jass will be fishing other venues on those dates.
Alan
I'm OK for both dates Jason, Mark S emailed me the scorecard and rules so when you have the dates etc. fixed I'll change them on the word document and run off as many copies as you need nearer the time, we can always meet up at B&T on the day of the match
If you want any help with organising just let me know mate

A score card?...It's not golf, you dont get a Handicap you know. What do you think your gonna get a 3 Flounder and a Bass start at Tilbury? :lmao: :)
it's enough of a handicap to even admit I know you Ron:wah:, I don't need any more thanks
The 15th i can do, the 8th i cant.
I should be OK for the 15th 15.30 tide:)
i would prefer 15th 15.30 as im away on the sunday
Fished Grays wharf last night and had 1 undersize flounder and 6 bootlaces. However I was informed by Thames Rover that you only get fish on the initial run of the tide and then at last knockings.
So the question I put to you all, do you still want to fish these dates or shall I change the date till later on in the year and we can all fish a beach e.g Dungerness in Nov/Dec time when dabs, whiting, doggies and a chance of a codling are on the cards, or stick to the initial date and try and get flounders, bass and sole.

This sounds like a better idea to fish Dungerness or another venue like it Jason .
