Have just been in contact with Jassyfa and we think the return leg would be better fished at Deal by walmer castle on sat or sun 13th -14th Oct good midday tides falling springs . Can we have your opinions please.

Thanks Alan

13/14 October is fine by me, anywhere you like. Good thing about delaying a further month is that it will hopefully allow more folk to get the dates in their diaries. Key thing is to get the date fixed once and for all and then get some momentum in raising the troops - remember how much hassle we had fixing the date for the Marina!

Im probally going with Ash and the last thing I need at the moment is you and Ash fighting in my car. I also have DMJericho and Thames Rover looking for lifts at the moment. If Thames Rover mate decides to fish then that is one lift less to worry about and if Flatty decides to fish then thats DMJericho sorted. You could ask sjp1979 as he lives in the outskirts of London somewhere.

Well Mrs kent_fishing_cpl is going, and I think there may be a few bruised male ego's after she is done, sadly I might be one of them!

I have to admit taking great pleasure when I see guys on a pier looking at her, with a multiplier, and you can hear them saying watch this then she whacks it out no problem, while they show off and end up with a full birds nest lol

Think I'm off that weekend.

Rules are still to be decided, at The Kent vs essex matches it was 1 rod 3 hooks max with a catch and measure, at the South East vs South match it was 2 rods 4 hooks max with points depending on size and species.

whopper
31-08-2007, 11:16
I think the catch and measure with one Rod 3 hooks will probably be the best. Seems to be a easier way to run things? Also when is the meet again????

Hi Lee 13th Oct 8.30 am to 4.30 pm at Deal or if weather is to bad we will find an alternative venue.

Alan

jassyfa
31-08-2007, 11:59
I prefer the 2 rods 4 hooks , then you can have a big bait out while catching whiting and pout on the 2 hooks on the other rod. This should give more of a variety of fish, with cod and bass going for the bigger baits. It also makes it more fairer for everybody as the decent anglers will aim to vbg up on whiting, pout and doggies. By using 2 rods it only takes an odd bass or cod to take the the bait and it blows the comp wide open.

Alan

Cheers Al.

Jassyfa, ok then 2 rods. But can we just have it a measure comp with a certain size counting for all eels, i dunno like 45cm or something? All the biggest flattie, round fish unusual fish etc makes it a bit complicated i think.:g:

girlfish
17-09-2007, 07:47
How about 4 hook max (1 or 2 rods is allowed) and keep to the national size limits. Sure most people have got a list with the size limits for shore and boat if not i can photocopy them?

Witnessed and signed by second person there and then and it's up to you whether you keep or return if it's sizable.

Are we allowed to use the weigh in opposite Deal Pier?? There's a bar there too of course LOL

jassyfa
17-09-2007, 07:58

So you want the comp rules like the Dungie and Felixstowe match. That sorts of takes away the use of two rods as people can use 2 hook clipdowns on both rods and target pout and whiting all day, instead of using 1 rod for cod and bass. After all a decent bass is going to go around 6lbs and be around 60-70 cm which is the same size as 3 pout which will weigh around the 1lb for the 3 of them.
Another way to look at it was at the Dungie meet, where Slayer had a 5lb cod which was 55cm long, however I had a 60cm doggie which weighed less than half the weight of the cod, but I still won biggest fish. Is that fair? I dont think so.

Mark_S
17-09-2007, 12:33
Length only is not a good idea. The length to points charts are much fairer and more accurate. As Jassyfa points out, it can't be right that a 2lb ish dog would beat a 5lb codling by virtue of being longer - on the length to points charts a 60cm dog=84pts and a 55 cm cod=158pts.

Not difficult to get best flat, best round and most fish. Most unusual is arguable though!

Well dont hold your breath then.....Why prizes anyway? Thought your lot never wanted prizes or to pay an entry fee...Remember last time?:g:

Oh yes, how can we forget that palaver,

but I think that if we up the entrance fee to £5.000, we could realistically offer a brand new Arvor as top prize,

with the runner up winning two of them  :whistling:

Seeing as young George from TRONIX has missed the initiative on this meet, may we at D-Products jump in first (yep, both of us....!) and offer five 150gm DVices as a prize for heaviest round fish, and five 130gm's as a prize for heaviest flatfish. I will be doing my best to win both categories, so I can knock them out on E-bay.........

I may have come across a bit of a problem. I have just found out that Oct 13th is the Great River Race re-union, and ill probably be out on the Thames rowing again for photos and certificates to be given out to the participants. Did i ever mention that i rowed 22miles of the Thames a few weekends back for charity, i dont like to mention my money raising activities:unsure::)....{cough}.

I will be getting confirmation soon about it so if it does transpire that the Re-union is on the 13th then i will have to give this one a miss folks :( I will deffinately show up on the next one though:).

Gotta go just sorting out my next FUND RAISING feat :1a::laugh:

You must have bought it under a pseudonym........ Or maybe it fell out of Ash..... The two advantages of fishing them from the boat is safety (no dangling bits) and lack of tangles (an end of hooking it over the wires, to reel in and find it still hooked over the wires) But as it does have a larger surface area, it will take a bit longer to reach the bottom, and as such, you will need to cast it a little further uptide. Be interested to hear how you get on with it. Shame you didnt find one of our 200gm variants, cos they stick like glue in a big tide!!

Anyhow, back to the thread. Anyone going to play bait suppllier at this gig? Freshout blacks would do it for me. Anyone know anyone, maybe someone with a birthday today, who might be getting a few spare worms out of Pevensey bay????
