there's a forum member, I think he's called "Kentkayaker", might be worth sending a pm to him.

There are a number of dedicated forums which cover Sit on Top Fishing Kayaking. There are frequent discussions on the merits of each of the common specialised Sit on Top Kayaks available plus a lot more including ancillary equipment, clothing, safety, meets, etc.

Hope Mike T does not mind me posting links to other forums!!

As a kayaker and a fisherman I have seriously thought about one of these too.

One question though, if you are lucky enough to bag a record fish, is it a shore or boat caught record?

Hello paulsp2, go for it! Yakking is great fun. Not just in Summer either. With a dry suit, and proper precautions, you can fish all year round.
Lots of different kayaks to choose from, depends on your budget.
Size matters too, don't get anything too big to handle on your own. You need to lift it on the car roof etc. Go and look at some SOT kayaks in the stores, or look on the net. We have Bic's, and they are just the job for me, but you might want something different.
You can buy Bic's on e-bay from Lakeland Electric boats at a discount. That's where I bought mine. Good service, no problems.
You will need advice on safety, getting paddle fit etc, but don't let that put you off.
Iv'e asked Mike for a seperate forum for kayak anglers, but he wants more threads to make it worthwhile.

I bought a second hand prowler 13 about a month ago. It is really good fun very relaxing as well. You can get too all those marks that are inaccessible from the shore.
So far I have only really trolled and fly fished from mine. I have been out about four times for a couple of hours each time, and have had at least 4 fish each time, including bass, mackerel, pollack and a wrasse.
The wife and kids are away this weekend so should get a longer trip in.
I can definitely recommend buying one.
For £1500 you will be able to get a very good one fully kitted out, and a decent dry suit.
