I will spend time showing any-one who ask,s rigs, bait presentation, and tackle, I am not a expert ,but have a few years rod -time , and wish to give something back to the sport that has given me so much pleasure since I was a kid.
Could be up for that - will pay up anyway if i cant make it.

everybody pray for an easterly just befor then:thumbs:
Yes hopefully the wind will be off the east , as this put,s colour , and movement in the water .
CodheadBob , will keep us informed of the conditions, but back to the session it is a great chance to escape from the Christmas shopping , and a day out , with the chance to meet others.
Hopefully the weather is turning colder , and the wind is going to come from the east .
Speaking to a few peeps today , and hopefully they will join us on the 9th .
Look forward to meeting old , new faces, and again all are welcome ,.
Hiya Deepsix
I should be up for this.
Will let you know nearer the time.
Reports are looking good for the meet, and greet session, fish are being caught .
Hope that they are still around when we arrive , but Codhead Bob will keep us updated on the catches.
Remember it beats Christmas shopping .

Plenty room for all , as Adrian has said both White , and Red piers are available , all we need now is the fish to appear.
Please do not forget a £2 donation for the sick kids charity , not a lot but it means a lot ,
I notice that requests for advice in casting have been asked for in other threads, well this is a ideal opportunity .
I may not be the most technically correct caster, but have had the pleasure of some one-one tution from a master Dave Docwra.
Come along on the day ,and introduce yourself , and hopefully we can help you .
This applies to all do not be shy , come along , introduce yourselves, and ask , if you do not ask , you will never know.
All are welcome , it is our pleasure to help put something back into the sport that give,s us so much pleasure.
Hi Deepsix, I'm intending to show & I'll see if DrDoug fancies it. Anster owes me a fish, only one wee coaly in 3 meets there:uhuh:

In the summer Jase, only the top part of the Red Pier is worth fishing, but in the winter the entire length of the Red Pier and also the White Pier will be worth a go.If there's a bit of a lump on the sea cod can be caught from the beach at both pier bottoms even.A couple of feet of water in darkness can be as good as anything else,so I'd think that hanging about into darkness would seriously improve the chance of fish.

Sorry to hear you cannot manage along , but thank-you for the donation, please give it to Arthur next time you see him.
The £2 donation is just a small way of putting a smile on a kid who is in hospital , at this time of year, not a huge amount but it means a lot.:):):)

What kind of bait should I bring on Sunday? I've got squid in the freezer but wondered if i should try and get lug.
If there's anyone in Edinburgh who's going and would like to share transport I'd be happy to pick them up on Sunday morning.
im not a deffinate anymore... got a lot of stuff todo but il try:unsure:
Looks like a cold one on Sunday. 7C wind from north 17mph. It's to be dry though.
Can people please meet at harbourmasters office before going up onto the piers.
This so introductions can be made , look forward to seeing you all ,:thumbs:.
Almost forgot please remember a £2 donation for the Sick Kids Hospital.
is there a certain time we need to be off ?? if im comin i will be fishing till about 8ish cheers

I'd suggest that it might be a good idea to bring a wee rod of some kind for daylight hours.tThere should be coalies, rockling and maybe flounders about during the day,but I'd be surprised in anything on a larger scale makes an appearance before the light starts to go.
just back from kirckaldy water was really choppy
have a good time tomorrow i cant make it

I'll tag along tomorrow and meet some of the local peeps. I'll bring my £2 and maybe a selection box for myself to help cope with the cold wind.
See you there guys!
Hide the selection box, the boys can smell chocolate at 100yards,

i walked along today with my son, water looked pretty good, great colour, but possibly bit on the flat side,
seen a few forum members at the start off the white pier, then i wandered along the red pier, too see if anything was happening on that side,
while chatting too mikey nae fish ( i think )
i seen Codhead bob behind the lighthouse , catch a coalfish...that rod seriously bends ehh bob, i was thinking its a doubler :) then up pops this coalie :D
on way back too car, i spoke too the guys on the blocks, dunno if there were forum members but had a lucky escape with there gear, the rest fell over into the water , they managed too grab 1 rod , however the other rod , 535mag reel and tripod all went for a swim,
luckily they managed too retreive all the gear back , so well lucky i think.
Atleast ye caught summit badboycodhunter  well done.

I was there today also. Nice to meet some of the guys, Grumpa who is a lot younger than you might think, Speybayspinner and Badboycodhunter. Not a lot happening just 1 Coalie for me caught on a running ledger with Squid and mackrel garnished with WD40. It was good to get out and meet some very nice folks. Thanks for your help Grumpa, the chip fork's a great idea.

No fish for me but great to be out and meet some top folks. My eyes are suffering a little wind burn, haven't felt that for a while. Just had cod and chips for tea but not as fresh as the one Karl's dog had tonight.
As for the Whiting/Coalie question.... All the Coalies i've caught have been a lot darker coloured on their backs than that but that's about as much help as I can be, newbie to the whole sea fishing thing n all.
A big thanks to everyone for making me feel welcome! Hope to wet a line with you all again soon.
Dave.

Pity it turned out such a rotten day.I had intended to go up to the lighthouse for an hour or two to have a go for a flatty, then come back down to the lower pier for the light fading, but when the rain came on I was getting a braw shelter from it ahent the White light,so I stuck it there till about 3 when I got a text from the missus asking if I fancied a roast tea,so that was enough persuasion for me and I headed up the road.Had one bite and one fish for the afternoon, such is Anster in daylight I think.

At least you all made a decent attempt guys - well done on all those who caught.
I headed for my bed , have not been feeling well , for a while , but always try , and fish.
Another meet, and greet will be arranged after the festive season, thanks to all who attended.
Hopefully the fish will put in a appearance next time, I would also like to take the opportunity to wish everyone the best wishes ,of the festive season, and a prosperous new year,:wave:
