Whos matches are catch and release

not sure what you mean by this question Frank,

as a club, Anderida, Pevensey bay, we fish a roving comp, they're three hrs on a weekday night, it's not worth pegging it, after the match we weigh in at the car park next to the beach, and i would say that the majority of what isn't being eaten is returned alive, obviously whiting and pout don't fayre too well, but then most pout and whiting are gut hooked anyways.

as Team Extreme sfc, we fish catch and release, sizeable fish only, works for us, but then we don't spread ourselves across 3 miles of beach!

dunno of any other c+r matches other than the anderida smoothound match, which incidentally, is the only match we're permitted to use crab in, it is to avoid where possible caching hounds in the summer and people being encouraged to bring them to the weigh in, on the odd occasion one gets brought back, it gets eaten by someone, like it or not... they're good eating! i have known members to return them during a match though, well, hearsay anyway.

I think a lenght for wieght match is the way forward . I know SAMF have done a lot to make it work . No dead fish at the wiegh in . I just wanted to know just how many matches are fishing in this way . Thanks for that big wad.

Shoreham club matches are as well and a good majority of Southwick club matches ....

Not entirely true, i fished Allans Marine at Eastney in March and it was catch and release for small fish, and then anything over a certain length had to brought back to the scales. I remember it being really rough and i had to fish from the promenade and i caught two tiddler schoolies all day. I think there were a couple of 4lb bass weighed in at the end. I might be wrong, but im sure thats one of the comps ur referring to?? :marinheir

.:oops:..My mistake..I was at both those matches too (obviously not paying attention)….i think it was fish over 45cm were to be retained then weighed ….silly me!

I think that is a good way to do catch and release, just have the big fish weighted at the end :yeah:
