Hiya lads what they do a bit of on the easy coast (east coast) with the home and away matches is to pair up at the draw 1 local with 1visitor or 2 with 2 and its a good way to meet chat and learn a bit more about our respective beaches/rock marks either follow vehicles or travel with if room allows have it as a rover between designated points. trust me it works very well. You can learn a lot of local anglers as we all know nothing top secret lol but when to fish, when not to, tide height/etc etc cut off points you know what i mean i'm waffling now

hi lads sounds to me good fun is it a team match overall length of fish any kind added together on each team .england v wales use that method and great fun.if it is every man for himself i wont bother as i can enter other comps if i want and my own preferance would be all cash raised went to charity. back on england v wales match are any lads going to the match near cardiff in febuary england needs more lads these comps are great fun and we meaning england are winning 2/1 up to now.tightlines.bob

looks like ive come up with a good idea! it would have to be on a weekend due to work commitments for people silecroft sounds good for cumbria
plus the charity is a top idea there must be a fishing charity?
how about getting w.s.f to do a report for the website aswell?

oldchukka

if the meet is to take place in the new year -- say in cumbria, what month would organisers be looking at.?
if silecroft [or another venue] was chosen, would there be boundries set for the venue.?
would the match be pegged?
suggestions from both lancs and cumbria would be helpfull to everyone interested to make the comp fair to all and a successful charity raising event

if its silecroft may and june always fish well for the schoolies i think it should be pegged and i would be up for putting the pegs out also would it be day or night. What do the lads say further up the coast theres plenty of good venues up there am willing to help where ever its at as long as some money goes to charity

Thats seems a good idea may/june gives people time to set things up possibilites of plenty of fish as well.We need to put some stakes in the ground for rules etc ,maybe millom club rules? When date/time sorted lads will be able to commit themselves there seems a lot of interest at the mo.Ishould be able to blag a cup/sheild (braggin rights)for the event seein as its for charity ANY MORE SUGGESTIONS LADS

I've been watching the posts on this and i do think its a good idea but.............................

its a big thing to organise a meet of this size

you need to calm down and organise things in a sedate manner instead of bull in a china shop so nothing is left out ,

people throughout the site have been organising meets of this size and bigger and its not easy ask bloatedcod and Ian houlton to name a few :headhurt::headhurt:

and i think billy asked a valid comment on travelling a lot of of people work weekends and shift work these would have to be considered :)

its only 80 miles for myself to travel to silecroft {around an hour and a half ish } but what about others ?????

this forum stretches to Liverpool as well as surrounding areas :)

i would suggest that an organiser from cumbria and 1 from lancs {keeps things simple} these 2 do the organising and the groundwork then sort me two dates out with tides ,times and venues for the first match {return leg to be arranged } and I'll get a poll stuck up and then its up to the organisers to sort out prizes ,raffle ,cup/plaque and charity if this goes well and its a good turnout and organised properly then maybe we can make this a permanent event :):)

has anyone come up with any ideas for this one yet ???????

i think as beachy blue and fishysteve were the first to propose the venture and second it from cumbria then they should be the cumbrian spokespeople {with anyone who is willing to help and advise }

and as paverunner and georgem were the first from lancashire to answer the post they {with anyone who is willing to help and advise } could be the lancs spokespeople

are these acceptable or has anyone got any other idea's suggestions on venues ?????

com on lads we could make this an annual meet for good causes with a bit of co-operation and organisation

ive had a chat with a few lads in cumbria and are up for it
i was thinking more of a meet at first with the lads off the forum
but it seems people have gone in at the deep end with prize tabels etc.

how about
cumbria v lancashire
with the winners being the one with the heavist total
just a bit of fun so people can meet each other etc
im all for silecroft in cumbria and then a venue in lancashire your call
then if all goes to plan we should look at organising on a bigger scale

also liked the suggestion of the mixed pair 1 from each {gives them with little or no knowledge of either area a chance and to meet some one new}

if we could get an idea of numbers that are definitely interested and a couple of possible venues for each match tides and dates {starting with the cumbrian one first }:):clap3:

could we possibly chuck in an incentive like for every £5 entry you will receive a strip of raffle tickets after that there a pound a strip ?????:g:

any idea's would be welcome

and a couple of charity's that would benifit :)

all we need is someone from down millom way is to stand up and pick a date

COME ON LADS VOICE YOUR OPINIONS

Sounds ok I think an evening comp provides the best chance for decent fishing and May is far enough away yet close enough to ensure the whole thing works. Like the idea of pairing up with the opposition to maybe produce a four man team with two from each area done by a draw. This would mean that all those intending to fish would submit their forum names in advance of the event and then perhaps get in touch with each other pre event. As somebody said earlier set the date get organisers and the rest will follow once somebody takes the responsibility to confirm the rules and objectives.

sat 17th may hw 23.00 8.5m a bit late but if its a saturday night theres no real rush to be home is there.
or sat 31 may hw 21.15 8.3m.
the sunday tides are a bit strange in may and early may and early june weekends all have opens or league matches on.
pegged yes or no?
weigh in or measure and release?
ive helped run a few matches before and the simpler it is the better for anyone organising it.
i would have it pegged myself, with a two man team for a couple of quid a man drawn from a cumbria angler and a lancs angler.
how about a tenner or fiver entry, half to charity, half paid out?

the sat 21:15 8.3 m sounds a good one does silecroft fish on the smaller tides ok :g:

and with people that might have to travel some distance give them time to arrive home at a reasonable hour

weigh in or measure and release?

not being a match angler {through choice} the measure and release sounds good

keeping it simple is a good idea ......you can always build on the event for the following years :):)

the pegged match sounds good as does the two man or women /mixed team {covering options lol} from each county
the £5 a head sounds reasonable with a raffle all monies going to charity no need to make anything

can we have a sticky on the forum to vote for the date? leave it up for 2 weeks and then the majority is a done deal!

c.m.r will somebody provide match cards to record the fish?
and somebody to add the scores up at the end of the match i would but my maths is terrible

im not sure on pegs due to we dont know how many will turn up silecroft is a massive beach and you can fish anywhere

i think a fiver is a good shout cause we all have to pay petrol money etc to get there.
with monies going to charity

pairs not to sure as the idea was cumbria v lancashire for a bit of comp with the guys on here and i think this should remain as we can have a bit more banter on here leading up to and after.

the poll isnt a problem i'll sort it out :)

the reason the pairs were mentioned is it gives people a chance to fish with somebody they've probaly only talked to on here ,
plus a lot of people have never fished cumbria so havent a clue how it fishes as have probally some of the cumbria lads who havent fished the fylde coast ,
the emphasis to the match was its for charity and was kept to a friendly :):)

like you say we now have to sort out how this is going to proceed :)

we need to have a show of hands to how many are going to attend from cumbria and lancashire

i'll start the lancashire side off by adding myself ,jason plus 1

but dont you need to no how many are turning up to have a match ????:g::g:

or do you mean sorting out the match details ie:- pegged pairs ,1 from each team ,measure and release that sort of thing

and dont forget this is not really a competative match {bragging rights and a cup/ plaque for the winning side } its a fun event to raise money for charity so lets try and keep things simple :):)

sorry i ment the details ie what sort of match like pairs etc
i think pairs is a good idea but how will it work in a cumbria v lancashire match?
i think it should be everyone who turns up chucks a fiver in for charity!

catch measure and release we need a volenteer who will guarentee match cards!

sheild to the winning county on most total length?

that's fine beachy :thumbs::)...............

so what does everyone else think

1.pairs {where 1 from each team fish together just to share tips and meet someone new each has a separate card and hands it in to there appointed team captains at the end , and gives people not from the area who haven't fished there a bit of a sporting chance }

2.singles { everyone gets a card and as above hands it in to the appointed team captains and fishes on there own }

the five pounds per head sounds fine

now who wants to do the match cards ????????lol

Fishysteve said he would do the match cards daz.
I would think that pairs is the best idea as it takes away local advantage. The lancs lads might be in for a hiding here as the cumbrian lads seem to fish a lot more matches, but we'll see.:spiteful:

Also, what about the RNLI as the charity, with procedes going to local stations.

maxie
15-01-2008, 12:31
ill second the rnli, and the pairs from opposing teams.
rules,keep it simple.
1.two hooks.
2.fish to millom club sizes, which will have to be advised on the day as they are different to nw sea league sizes,ie they are bigger.
and thats it.
what about the times.

millom rules are no good for the cards i was going to print, they are catch and release cards with size to points conversion for all species, all fish caught would count over 18 centimeters then and all can be returned so no need to kill anything unless its for the pot

sorted i will get a load copied, they work well at the matches we fish at blackpool, you get extra points when you get bigger fish, and even if theres only undersize fish you get points so long as they are over 18 cm they just need to be written on your match card and the points totalled up as you go along :)

Just to say it is presumably for forum members and obviously if anyone cares to join then they become eligible to participate in what was originally intended to be a bit of a getting to know you affair.
However I think it makes things a little difficult for the team captains and their organisers as the time draws nearer. Perhaps we should submit our forum names by a certain time so that pairings can be made and a good idea of the comp. size will be available, then if there is a deficit in one team or the other other interested parties can then be invited to fish.
Myself and Conistonsteve will be there....inshallah
