I'm planning to fish off Moggs Eye on Saturday 12th January.

06:46 GMT Twilight begins
08:12 GMT Sunrise
16:05 GMT Sunset
17:31 GMT Twilight ends
09:56 GMT Moonrise
21:08 GMT Moonset
02:17 GMT 1.27m. Low Tide
08:18 GMT 6.65m. High Tide
14:25 GMT 1.71m. Low Tide
20:14 GMT 7.05m. High TideAccording to the Maori fishing calendar for that day, the best fishing time is between 15:30 and 19:00, so I'm thinking fishing from 15:00 till 20:00 and then calling it a day. (and see if there's anything in this mauri hocus pocus!)
Weather forecast is looking good for that day too. South westerly veering westerly 12mph, cloudy with 20% chance precipitation, 3-4 deg C.
Anyone fancy another mini-meet? I'm going to put the kybosh on it now by saying that I've got a good feeling about that day!
Cheers

Hi Sean!! I've got a feeling about that day too and I'm up for dance around the beach. Anyone else got a grass skirt? Sounds good to me and I like your choice of venue. The beach looked good before this weeks blow. So I (we) hope to be there partnered by a decent looking cod or two!
THANK COD FOR FISHING!!

Fished the meet on Saturday at Moggs eye. The beach looked like it had plenty of potential, a flat mid section with a couple of gulleys running up to a steepish sand ramp to the high water mark. Conditions were good with light winds and a rolling swell of about 1m.
Pouting paul, Sean, Sean's two mates, Ryan1, his dad Paul and myself turned up to fish.
Weed was a big problem up until 2hr before high when it became fishable. Everyone caught small whiting until the weed returned about two hours into the ebb, before which a couple of insize whiting plus a Flounder of about 12oz had appeared amongst the pins.

Although the fiishing was very disappointing the conversation made up for it, good to meet you all and hope to fish again with you in the future.
Cheers,
Paul.

Good report coalie and a good photo to go with it! Yes it was pleasant evening and fish were caught. The weed was a problem, but that's a fact of life, especially after the blow we had last week. Thank again Sean for organising the event and heres to next time!
THANK COD FOR FISHING!!

Looks like a good session by all, just a pity I couldn't be there with you.
But there are other days, and I am sure I can get on one of them....
I got my first fish of 2008 - a whiting around the same size as a goldfish! :thumbdown
The weed ruined it a bit for me, along with my mate moaning that he was cold all session (to the extent that we left around half seven)!
It doesn't look like I missed a great deal though.
What I found surprising was that the beach looked so fishy when the tide was out on that day. We had a bit of a blow the night before, and the sea looked perfect for fishing (apart from the weed!), but not much to speak of in the way of caught fish!
According to Paul (pouting), who 'phoned me on Sunday, there were some sizeable cod caught 20 yards out near the boat yard in Skeggy that night too.
Cheers
Sean
Good to fish with you again Sean, well done for organising the meet. No you didn't miss much at all on the ebb. The beach does look good though and i'm sure I'll be giving it another go. Thats you and your mates on the left.

Nice picture Paul.
Yes, nice to meet everyone and fish with them again. Even though I only had the one jaws-sized fish, I thoroughly enjoyed the session and am already looking forwards to the next one.
I went down to Winthorpe to use my bait up the next morning for a couple of hours. I didn't get anything there and moved up to Anderby Creek for a go there.
Unfishable is not the word for it! There was that much weed that it snapped my mainline on the 2nd cast whilst my rod was in the tripod. I had 22lb line on!
Oh well. I'm up that way in 2-3 weeks and can't wait to get the rod out again!
Cheers
Sean
