i enjoy all branches of the sport but cant find some decent winter fishing ive tryed the usal winter species like chub and pike with minaml sucess and just want a bag full (or half im not greedy) of fish so what do you think is the best fish n method 2 go out for?
hi hows the speicie hunt going?? if you want to catch a bag of winter fish just find a commercial carp pond/fishery winter carping ..andy
Most course fishing slows down in winter temperatures. It all depends were your fishing, ponds unless iced over should still give you a bit of sport. But running water can be awkward, such as a river in flood! If i was fishing a flooded river in the winter ,i would fish literally by my feet or on pools on the bends etc, anywhere out of the main flow!
For a bagful head for commercial puddles stocked to the limit and fish with maggot targetting the carp and roach, you cannot fail.......some even have heaters to keep them from freezing and to keep the fishes metabolism and appetite up!
On the other hand persevere with the chubbing/piking for a far more satisfying experience, especially on running water. Proper coarse fishing.
