If the weather is good and we can make the marks doubles will be standard for the day, no piddling little 3lb excuses.
The last time I went two years back I caught the first cod and as we were having a little aside on the matter it was weighed in at 8lb and a few ounces, it proved to be the smallest of the day:fishing:

I will be going down the night before fishing Sunday and travelling back early Monday morning, I have not yet tied up with Roger 100% on this one but the sofa is still on offer.
If Roger is going down on the day and back up again I may well go down a couple of days before and try to pick up some mid-week individual sessions.
I think Roger was consulting with his good lady about timing etc.

just picked this up from the boats forum and couldn't resist putting up here .
OR get yourself on a mid channel boat and do some proper light tackle wrecking.
None of this daft 1lb plus pirks and 30lb class rods. A nice 6lb class rod or 6/12 if you really must. Super high speed palm sized multiplier (Shimano Torium 14 or Penn TRQ100 etc) loaded with 12lb braid and fish a flying collar with leads between 6oz and 10oz at the very most.
Use Shads, Storm Lures or Jelly Worms and if you are lucky the skipper will have live sandeel.
Expect Pollack into the mid teens and Cod up to and over 20lb.http://smiles2k.net/smiles/big_smiles/super_smilies007.gif

Just before I went t*ts up I had a filling come out, after a great day at Oxwich Sunday, feeling on top of the world, got home and you guessed it, it started playing up and I was up all night, went to the dentist this morning and had it pulled. At £52 it was worth every penny :laugh:

Hi lads just checked my emails and had this off colin
HI, KEVIN, I HOPE YOU ARE WELL. DUE TO EVER INCREASING DIESEL PRICES MY PRICES have had to rise accordingly. Here is a guideline - 8 to 9 hour reef/bank trip = £380, 10 hours =£450, Bass trips 8 hours = £400, 10 hour offshore wreck trips = £500. With the way the fuel just keeps on going up , you are welcome to contact me nearer the time of your trip to check on what the prices are. I look forward to seeing you. I under stand £62.50p being a touch higher than it started, but the boat and skipper are ace and providing the weather allows us to go we will catch.
Catch reports coming in currently from the area and Collins boat have been great and improving week on week.
Sorry your going to miss it mate.
It is worth noting with the rising cost of fuel charter prices will have to rise.

Ken has some good local knowledge of the area and I asked him about it when were down Saundersfoot admiring the view on saturday. His opinion was wait until nearer the time to see where we can actually go what with the weather etc.
But I would think those two outfits you mentioned would cover most drifting conditions but you might need a 30lb class set up if we drop the hook near a wreck.

The wind which is the controlling factor is looking better every day, I was worried about wind speeds of 25mph Friday and Saturday but these forecast have now dropped back to 14mph max plus dropping of Saturday evening to 12mph and falling through the night to down to 6mph by 6am and dropping of to 5mph by the time we set off.

Yes it is looking really good, the best thing is the low wind speeds during the week plus an average speed of 8mph through Sunday.
Should be an excellent days fishing. Filling the rig pouches with jelly rigs, muppets and chartreuse / silver shad all on 25lb flourocarbon. Also put in a few packets of cod feathers. I purchased a new Igloo box for bring home a bit of fresh fish and hopefully a few mackerel as well.

A lot depends on the tides Colin will know, have used as little as 8oz and the most I have used is 1lb. Plus it depends how we fish them on the drift or uptide on anchor.
