19-01-2008, 15:24
The Scottish forum have a very successful boat fishing competition that's held every year from various ports, I now think it's time the North East forum got in on the act and held our own!

The North East W.S.F. boat trophy will be held on Wednesday the 9th of July from Hartlepool, aboard the charter boat Maggie May.

There will be a trophy awarded to the captor of the heaviest fish on the day and the winner will have bragging rights for one whole year. We could even raise a small amount for charity.

The price is £35, if you fancy it, please reply to this thread.

We have a choice of four ports available, Amble, The Tyne, Hartlepool and Whitby. There is a poll running at the moment about this competition that you can vote in, this you will find at the top of the page. Any boat chartered will have the relevant safety licence and insurance.

Prices for charter boats range from aprox £25 to £40 per person, depending on boat and port. I will also be asking for a £5 donation which will go to a charity that W.S.F. members vote for.

Cheques to cover the full amount of the charter fee will be required when the boat/ boats are booked.

Spaces for this competition could be limited so as soon as I have around twenty interested persons, that will be it. Anyone else who's interested after the first twenty replies will have to go in to reserve, they could possibly get a place in the competition if someone drops out. J.V.

J.V.:thumbs:your probs talking of around 12 to a boat so at least two boats will have to be booked if there are enough names put forward, ive voted for hartlepool as ive been out of there many times and there are at least two good boats i can think of,oi havnt been out of amble before but will enter this one whichever port/mariner we leave from:fishing1:

jarrow viking
25-01-2008, 19:28
I will add your name to the list Bow1, the poll closes on the 29th of January, I will arrange this one soon after that date. At the time of writing it looks like this one will be held from Hartlepool.

jarrow viking
30-01-2008, 01:21
Okay the poll is now closed, Hartlepool is the chosen port. :boat:

I am fairly sure the boat chosen will be the Maggie May, if there is enough interest another boat could be booked to.

The booking will be made this week and then I will pm the interested people about making payment. I will be out of the country very soon for a week so I will be in touch around the 12th of February.

A cheque made payable to me for the full amount of the trip will be required, places on the boat will be allocated on a first come, first served basis.

The cheque will be held by myself and only cashed if you don't turn up. Your cheque will be given back to you by myself on the day but you will need to bring enough cash to cover the cost of the trip, which will probably be around £30 per person.

This thread will be moved to the meets, events section of the North East forum soon. Watch this space for more info..........J.V.:)

As you are all aware the price of fuel has sky rocketed lately, I have spoken to the skipper of Maggie May today and he has had to put up the price of this trip per person to £35.

I won't ask you for any more money as originally stated in this thread but we could if you all wish have a sweep of £2 per man which will go to the captor of the heaviest fish along with the prestigious WSF boat trophy.

Many thanks, Dave.

seen this on uk wind map, that only goes to tuesdat but showing northerlies about 15 mph, hopefully it will be wrong, like it was the other week when we went to the mull. Then the wind was about 1000000 times stronger than forecast, hopefully will be other way round!
