Not sure what type of ground you have there Smiley but not had any probs with mine (approx 1 yr old). The fork comes with a lifetime guarantee so maybe you can take your broken one back to where you bought it.

I don't think you can get trenching spades like the one in the picture which has been highly modified.
...spot on there mate !! spear and jackson used to make a super range of forks !!! the very best are flat wide tines ,long tapering shaft ,timber or metal, though timber does break eventually under duress its so light to weild !!! and strong !!! manufacturers just dont have a clue anymore !!! its all foreign rubbish like most other manufactured crap !!!!!??... a `mate of mine got an old goodun from a house clearance but they r hard to get .. so if anyone can tell me where to get a decent fork with the above design ??!! i,d love to know ????i have jus dug 400 lug in 2 sessions and though i,m getting older i can still do it !! but life would be easier with forks like they used to make !!!!! happy digging foxy52..

I was with him the day it snapped. The ground is just plain sand with broken shell (razors, mussels, clams etc).
Did seem strange that a reputable companies fork should snap so easily

just plain sand buddy, odd... it was mail order, and it would have cost me 10 plus to send it back to fiskars for inspection, so i gave it a miss and bought a pump.

its something to do with the boron mix, and the head being cast, not forged.

just a pointer, it was a long drive home
