Pike fishing and the coarse license?
Hi Guys
I normally do all of my fishing from the beach in the Lincolnshire area.
A friend of mine has threatened to take me pike fishing in the drains around the skegness area.
I'm up for it and don't see it so much as "the dark side" as it's more (to me) like a sea fish than a fresh water fish
Would a stiffish sea spinning rod be ok to use?
My question is this: Do you need a coarse angling license to go Pike fishing?
If so, where do I get one and how much do they cost? Do they last for a year?
'Scuse my ignorance chaps
Cheers

Rod should be OK.
Licence can be got from post office or Environment agency website and yes you do need one. You can get them for a week or 12 months and it runs from 31 march.Men are like fish, we only get into trouble when we open our mouth.

I didn't know about the March 31st thing. I thought it went like road tax, you got 12 months at a time sort of thing!
Not worth getting an annual one just yet then!
Cheers

Sounds like you're scarred for life against Pike boily!

They're certainly a lot prettier than congers though!2009 Targets: Common Smut, Thornback Ray, Mullet, Fly-caught Bass, Dogfish

yeah, thanks scottonjayne I realised that.
I looked at the Environment agency's website as advised by snaggletooth.
I think for the amount of time I'll actually be fresh water fishing, I'll be paying £3.25 a go.
Cheers
