Kerala
I've no specific information on that particular area although, some years ago, a couple of our members did fish further north (?) from Goa with an Italian who had a big game boat located down there. They had reasonable success particularly with Yellowfin Tuna, Sailfish and Marlin. But they were having to run 40 plus miles offshore and some of their trips were overnighters.
It might well be worth sending a PM to IndianAngler in case he misses your post. I believe he's currently fishing in the Andaman Islands - off India's east coast.

Something?
The only thing I could find on the 'Net was this.
There are four principle coasts where sea fishing may be undertaken: Goa and the Kerala coast, Lakshadweep Islands, Orissa and Andaman Islands
Goa & Kerala
The sea fishing region of Goa and the Kerala coast extends from the beach resort of Goa to Thiruvananthapuram along the long southwest coast. The local boatmen and the local travel agents can give empirical information on the best fishing areas. The main ports in the area are Goa, Mangalore, Cochin and Thiruvananthapuram.

Thanks Jack - I have pm'd Indian Angler already - I shall look forward to his replies. The Big Game thing is of less interest than some shore fishing. We had a very good time in Sri Lanka a couple of years ago and thought that we would try and do a bit more homework this time. Many thanks Steve

Went to Goa a few years back without tackle and spent a lot of time on the beach.Tortured daily by large Bass like fish you could see in the waves!!!
Also saw locals catch smoothound type fish om handlines.
I recon you coulds get some exellent sport here with a good spinning rod and a few rapalas and some ledgered fish.Don't know anything about Kerala but its on the same side so maybe similar.
