Baja California Trip
Hi guys,
Anyone else going to be around in Baja California (Los Cabos/East Cape) 28 February to 12 March?
I've got 3 nights (2 days Super Panga) at Rancho Leonero (East Cape); 4 nights (2 days Super Panga) at Punta Colorado (East Cape); 3 nights at La Playita, East of San Jose del Cabo (2 days Super Panga), and 3 nights in Central Cabo San Lucas (fishing still to be booked).
I know it's a little "off-season", but there should still be some decent fish around (providing the wind isn't too strong) and the Moon is good with a New Moon on the 7 March.
I just need to get away from these rubbish-strewn streets of Naples and get a bit of sunshine too.
Cheers,
Dai

Looks like a pretty good itinerary to me. I see from the Cabomagic daily catch reports that stripies are still being taken from Cabo, but only by the big cruisers on full-day charters, so presumably they're a long way off. The pangas inshore seem to be taking mostly sierra mackerel and the odd wahoo.
I was at Rancho Leonero in Nov (there's a report in this forum), and it's a great place for anglers. Send me a PM if you need to know more, and pass my regards to Gary Barnes-Webb, the RL manager. And most of all, please send us a catch report ... one of these days we'll have to visit in spring as my wife wants to see the whales calving in Bahia Magdalena!
All the best

I read your excellent report, plus the Mexfish ones and Tripadvisor ones too when I was researching this trip (some of the TA ones were not too complimentary about RL, but I don't think they were fishy type people and expected a swept-up 5* resort like those in CSL, etc).
Gary gave me an upgrade to a "Deluxe" Room for the price of a Standard. Will say Hi for you.
I will post a report on my return.
Cheers,
Dai
