First trip of 2008.
Fished a local Fenland lake yesterday for a few hours. When I arrived the conditions were good with a light south westerly wind.

I set up in the windward side of the lake with the plan to fish the marginal reeds were the carp sometimes hold up in the colder months.

Used my old maver pole and fished lightish with a 4*12 float and size 18 hooks to 3lb line. Fished a yellow tip float first as this showed up well in the conditions and double red maggot on the hook. Fed lightly with 10-12 maggots every now and again.
First put in resulted in a tiny roach, then second put in the float shot under and the laccy sped out, after a good scrap I landed a carp around 6lb.

Then everything went quiet for the next hour or so. The wind picked up and the tow increased so tried the tip, nothing doing. I went back on the pole with a slightly heavier rig 4*14 to combat the stronger tow and a blacked float tip, tried double caster. This resulted in two nice rudd and two decent carp which I lost due to trying to bully them in on the small hooks resulting in a hook pull. Enjoyed the short session as it made a change from the beach over the last few months,at least I know how they're feeding so I might be back next week.

Thanks for the feedback. Not a decent catch, in fact a near blank for that fishery but I enjoyed being out fishing. I think I prefer fishing places like that in the winter because it is more satisfying when you catch a few.
