    Boilies

A French friend wants me to pick up a collection of Boilies - he is a keen angler and ideally would buy in bulk. Any suggestions what to buy and where? I'm a sea angler first so have little interest/knowledge in such things. Travelling back to the continent next weekend so any advice appreciated asap

Assuming your pal hasn't stipulated any particular brand I would suggest contacting Frank at Catcherbaits.co.uk or Gary at Poacherbaits.co.uk.
Bulk buying from the independent suppliers normally ensures a better deal than from the big companies such as Mainline or Richworth.

    Hi Stringfellow,

is the water he is fishing a "known" water ie Cassien, Orient etc?

if it is there is likely to be info on the web about the type of boilies to best go for and the typical amount of feed for the water. (it used to be where piling in the bait worked but that was a long time ago now..most french lakes respond to more normal UK type baiting nowadays i believe)

I would personally steer well clear of shelf life boilies and go for freezer baits instead.

as advised, i would contact several of the dealers and get prices...it is hard to buy crap freezer bait nowadays due to market competition.

    hope this helps.

    Marc

    French region/water

Thanks for the advice so far
I am not sure where he fishes but he lives alongside the River Vienne in SW France. I know of carp to over 50lb being caught in the area - it is dammed every so often for hydro power and catfish of gargantuam proportions-well toward 200lbs!! I'll post a pic soon
