rod test curve

hi all...

ive found a rod i like at quite a good price for its make.... and was woundering what testcurve to get for 20lb carp up to 30lb?? from the following

2.75, 2.5, 2.0

Hi there,

you can catch 30lb carp on all of the rods but your choice is not dependant on the test curve.

it is all about what distance your may need to fish at and with what methods.

for example; if you are fishing a gravel pit with big leads or method feeders then you might want to go up to a 3lb+ test rod, but if you are fishing a small lake then the 2.5lb rod would suffice.

I wouldn't go down to the 2lb test rod because it limits your lead size and casting distance.

without knowing the details of where you are fishing I would probably go for the 2.75lb rod as this will give you more options with your methods.

not sure if it helps,but had a 13lb 6oz hard fighting river carp on a 2.5tc rod.would of though that would equate to at least a 20lb lake carp as there was a fair flow of water as well,but personally would probably opt for a 2.75tc myself.all you need to do now is decide whqat action you like
