What do you prefer and are the rings on the rod for multi or fixed spool?
My personal choice for the beaches I fish from is an abu mag elite as number one reel and abu 6000 as my number 2.
My partner has an abu 6600 cl rocket as her number one and an old f/s fladen as her second choice.
If you asked me what reel would I have to do everything with (beach and boat) I would say abu 7000.
This is from my personal experience and I am sure people will say slosh or penn etc but I always think if you are happy with whatever you use then thats the best reel.
Do you have some friends with different reels that would let you try theirs?
Hope that is of some help to you
Malcolm.

My 18 ft penn power stix is rung for both egg beaters and multiplyers.
I have the old abu 6500 ct mag elite.
I have had this for about a year and a half, and still cant cast the b++++y thing.
So next time I have a few sheckells in the bank im going back to a 13ft rod.

Depends on the ground you fish.
Multiplier wise;
Clean beach 6500mag elite/7HT
Mixed Ground 525mag/slosh20
Heavy Ground SLosh30/535/7000
Fixed spools, just buy the best you can afford and it'll last longer(normally).

Your allowed your opinion but mines still the best

I've been fishing with a fixed spool for a few years now and they are very easy to use But I've just got a new rod and a penn 525 x mag. best thing I've every done takes time to get use to but can improve your casting distance.
