Whats the weirdest thing you have hooked while fishing?
Mine was a rucksack which was full of jars of meat paste.......completly full......weighed a ton!!

well......was it crab paste ?..... my brother were sea fishing with me and a group af mates once....he was nt having much luck,we were all catching ,he was nt until he struck a large knock on his rod.It made his rod bend... he looked at us thinking "well this will show them !".... his reel clutch kept slipping....he kept smilling.... he landed it..... it was a large beach towel !!!!! .. we all fell about laughing.....not caught anything odd myself but will watch this thread with interest.....

Out on a charter boat once, had a real heavy pull and lifted into something that was pulling yards of line off the reel. The skipper asked for the rest of the lads to pull in their lines,decks were cleared and the big gaff was readied. I was gaining line on this creature, and something big and black was slowly coming towards the boat, thrashing on the surface.
The skipper leaned over and the gaff went in....and a large wheelie bin lid came over the side.
It took a long time to live that one down....Rich
[now an ex-sweeper driver]
SPECIES SO FAR THIS YEAR :
codling, dogfish, channel whiting, pout whiting, silver eel, rockling, mackerel. Oh, and a crab....
Target for this year...my first shark. Please Lord...please.
