    Weekly Confirm the Fish Question

    Gents,

Just to ensure that I am correct. I caught this yesterday:

I originally thought it was a tiny Turbot, but after talking to some other anglers and having such things as the lateral line, spots on the fins and mouth pointed out to me, I am now content that it is a strangely marked Plaice.

Can you just confirm this to stop me wondering for the rest of the year, as others are now suggesting Brill on the Ravenspoint report on the N Wales forum.

    Many thanks.

I'd say an unusually marked plaice, it's a most strange looking creature. I'll send your pic to Alan Yates if you don't mind and see what he thinks.

Strange isn't it! Got the markings of a brill and the mouth of a plaice!

    Perhaps it's a Prill?

looks like a flattie to me, i could be wrong tho
There's plenty of fish in the sea, but until I catch one, I'm stuck here just holding my rod.

to put the cat amongst the pigeons again,i,ve looked through the various fishy sites and the one with the closest markings to that seems to be lemon sole.
