Kayak VHF Equipment Courses
While my mate is offline,Im trying to get him info about
the day courses that you can attend for VHF usage afloat.
He is willing to pay/attend such a course in order that he can
use the neccessary equipment to keep himself safe.
He has told me that these courses are available nr Portsmouth
for around £100 per day.
His major concern is what literary content and or writing is involved
as by his own admission, this he does not excell in.
If any fellers can provide info or contact points,I will willingly
speak to the department in order to find out what the course involves.
cheers

Gazza, The VHF course is not too difficult to complete, there is lots of hands on practical stuff to do, along with a combination of talks, slides and examples. At the end there is a short written exam consisting of multi choice and short answers based on what you have learnt in the day, so if you've paid attention there shouldn't be a problem. He should go for it has it will give him peace of mind and will also allow him to help others who get into difficulties by relaying information to the coasatguard, RNLI etc. You can contact the RYA who have a database of marine radio SRC (short range certificate) course providers
