any fishin yak is a good yak!
alright dan ' just readin your post about yak you have .. dont know anything about that 1 but the word "FISHERMAN" on it says to me that ..it will do what it says on the tin !! . get in it and find out .. balance / stability is geared to ..age .. confidence ..weight .mabee ? and the fear of falling in ! 'thats the norm for all kayak ppl / fishing dudes /dudettes . like me 'new to yaks but not fishin .. no doubt you will get another yak ..in time 'what you have is good ' just get safety / gettin wet bit covered
im no expert dan but dont let opinions put you off' find your feet'at your pace m8.. billy

I agree with billy m8, get down some water which is safe i.e not out of your depth and have a play. Build up your skills and confidents gradually before to take to the sea.

Kayak choice
There's no such thing as a bad kayak really, they've all got their pros and cons. At the end of the day, you're the only one that will judge whether this kayak is 'made for you' or not. I'm 5'10 and own a Malibu x factor, it's heavy, slow but I love it for many other reasons . . I can be a couple of miles out and feel as safe as it can be. Take the P13 for instance, it's fast, maneuverable and every kayak fishermen owns one. Yet, it's just not me . . I rather put a little bit more effort in getting to the fishing mark and be totally comfortable whilst fishing.
Hope this help

Hi all,
if you saw the south east regional news the lost canoeist that was me i fell out at about a mile and rang my dad for advice how to get back in but he assumed i was in trouble and over reacted calling the coast guard ( i am deeply ashamed and embarrassed ) as when they picked me up i was just about to get out of the sea.
anyway lesson learned and have booked some safety lessons.
Thanks for your comments and help.
from dan.

My fishing mate brought a mojo last year which he has rig out for used on bass plugging along the S/E coast of jersey he swears by it, I short listed the mojo and perception freedom angler for myself and went for the peception soley because because of my height.Take your time and rig it out to suit we are all diferent shapes sizes sit in it on the drive and make sure you everything that you need to hand and that you have all you have all the safty equipment
Fishing is not a matter of life or death, it's more importment than that
