    Cayo Coco help please

I am going to Cayo Coco in October this year and was hoping to do some fishing whilst there. Can anyone help with some advice on what is best to do, go on an arranged trip or can you get gear and fish from a beach etc? Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thumbs up Cayo Coco

    Hi there.

You can search some threads here for info but in all honesty you cant get better than www.cubamania.com.

    Look for posts from marktheshark

He is a fishing deity for cayo coco / cayo guillermo

One piece of advise from me: dont go undergunned! There are leviathons swimming round those two islands!

    Feel free to PM me.

    regards

You might want to do a bit of research before you go. I hear that Cayo Coco has been designated an Ecological Reserve and that restrictions on fishing may soon apply. See here:

    http://www.snap.cu/listados.htm

It's also listed here as a proposed reserve along with Cayo Largo and several other areas in Cuba. The Cuban areas are listed from 195 to 213.

    http://www.cetaceanhabitat.org/find_mpa1.php

Also don't expect the Cuban Embassy to know whats going on. I know of one Argentinian angler who recently, although first checking with the embassy, travelled to Cayo Largo only to be greeted with signs like the one below. I don't know if any restrictions are already in place in Cayo Coco but it seems that they are in Cayo Largo.

There's a thread on this subject at the moment on Cubamania.

    http://www.cubamania.com/cuba/showthread.php?t=22541

and also this one where the Argentinian angler tells of his recent trip to Cayo Largo.
