signal crayfish
i hear now that they are eating all the invertebrate in the rivers now and what can we do? the environment agency say catching them makes the problem worse. when i catch crayfish i catch them from 2cm upwards. they say that trapping leaves the smaller ones to breed. Surely this is a stupid idea if you are constantly catchin the blighters all sizes

They are good eating and you get rid of some of them. I'm sure I saw on a TV programme some body catch them commercially.
They must be a good bait for something?Species 2011

Saw a program a while back about a snake in America thats preferred food is crayfish!
Failing that lets face it there is no immediate solution it looks like signal crayfish are here to stay, unless they can create a virus that does to them what they did to our native crayfish, and they are bloody tasty!

Be carefull as I am sure you need a licence to trap or transport signal crayfish

RTFM.
Yes,RTFM
Now go back and RTFM PROPERLY, AND REMEMBER:- Revving the nuts off your outboard in neutral will quickly give you a big pile of scrap. DON'T DO IT.

From the Environment Agency website - National Byelaws 2001
Byelaw 3
