Fuerteventura (Canary Islands)
We are off to Fuerteventura for Xmas - does anyone know of any good fishing marks?
I'm planning on taking a spinning rod and a telescopic beach rod - is beach fishing productive or should we stick to the rocks?

What Part Are You Going To? Look For One Of The Countless Little Jetties And Piers The Shuttle Boats Launch From,(las Salinas) Use Cobs Of Bread With A Smallish Treble Hook Embedded Into It, Wait For The Mullet To Attack It! Which Will Not Be Long (believe Me!)
And Away You Go!
Alternatively The Deep Sea Fishing Can Be Excellent Here For Marlin, swordfish, Shark ,tuna Etc But Do Get Some Info Locally Who Are The Reputable Skippers As They Are A Few That Think All The Enjoyment Is Catching The Bait And Then Go Trolling For Four Hours And Just Try To Get You Drunk On Cheap Wine Believing You Have Had A Good Day! Look For British Skippers There Are Quite A Few (they Do Try)
Hope I Have Helped You.

Fished the back of the breakwater at Caletta and it can be good with nice bream, scad and baracuda although not at Xmas I would hazard a guess. Fish prawn on small hooks with a ledger or paternoster rig. Good tip is to cast out towards the mini sub when it is close to the breakwater as they feed the fish and hey presto instant ground bait. Deep sea will be all bottom fishing by now.
I have also fished the wee jetty at Los Lobos Island between Fuerta and Lanzarote. This was excellent (November) and we had some cracking triggers and huge scad on tiny live baits freelined (caught tiddlers on prawn floatfished then rigged them straight to a 2/0 freelined hook)
Enjoy the sun and cerveza even if the fish aint playing !

Hi Slacklines , maybe see you out there what date are you going ?
We,re heading out on the 28th and i was also looking to do a spot of fishing ( telescopic in the case waiting ) . I was thinking of bringing some plugs and spinners but dont know if these will work as i dont do a lot of plugging or spinning at home .
I wonder what the charter guys are catching this time of year ? Tuna for Xmas !! Beats turkey any day of the week
All the best Andy

Andy - we're off on the 18th, Caleta de Fuste. I'm also trying out plugs for the first time, but will also use bait off the lagoon walls.
Apparently Father Christmas is mindful to let me go deep sea fishing this time, so I might (at last) get some decent fishing stories!

Hi Slacklines ,
We,re staying for 7 days and going to Costa Celeta , dont know how far this is from Caleta De Fuste . How long are you guys staying for ?
If your back before we go keep me posted on how you get on . Apart from this site it seems hard to get info on fishing this spot . I have tried searching for charter boat nos / details but so far have only came up with one .
Good luck Andy

Lots of good info on your site. If I might make a suggestion, the all caps fish page is a pain to read and you might want to convert it to lower case.
