Since my shark trip was called off I decided to give one of my favourite lakes a try.
Conditions were near perfect, overcast with a beautiful ripple on the water, the fish, however had different ideas.
After 4 hard hours I had only caught one small (6 inches) brownie.
Desperate measures were called for, so I headed up to the top of the Bigga arm to the weed.
Managed to catch another brown, this one about a pound and a half, then a couple of rainbows.
Noticed a few fish rising, during the occasional lulls in the very heavy showers, to yellow cow dung flies.
Finished off with two more rainbows to dry flies, my first fish this year to dries.
Couldn't take any pics as it was raining too much, but the place is always a pleasure to fish due to the amazing wildlife in the area, buzzards, kestrels, red kites and water fowl.
Well recommended to anyone to have a trip here as the fish are the hardest fighters for their size and the surroundings are superb.Team Eel -- Assistant deputy Captain
