Goa
Hi Dog Hop
The only of our Club members that have fished there have gone offshore with reasonable degrees of success for Blue Marlin and Yellowfin Tuna. However I did pick up this posting from another forum that may be of use - http://ukswff.proboards26.com/index....ead=1134726662.
Best Wishes

PS So have you seen any of the ancient vehicles on the Plymouth to Banjul rally pass through yet?

Hey Dog Hop,
I recently had an email from a guy(Ken L) who did some fishing in and around Goa.
http://www.anglersnet.co.uk/forums/i...howtopic=56543
I'm sure you could ask him about exact locations and whom he went with, which will save you alot of time. He's posted a pic of a barra, which looks pretty impressive.

I know a bunch of guys who fished further down the same coast(Mangalore) last week and managed to catch some jacks. But it may be a bit too far for you to travel esp. since you're on holiday with the family.
I hope this has been of some help.
Regards,
Indian Angler.

Fishing in Goa and west coast of India
Hello
I have been fishing in and around Goa for sometime now, the game in Goa has gone down drastically reason being over fishing. In some case The trawlers have been trawling just 500 metres of the coast. You would trawler with a local boat but don’t expect much. Further down the coast - Kawar is a better bet. The mouth of the Kali River produces Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon and a little further out to sea there are islands, trawling around them gives you a good chance of hooking with some Barramundi and Jacks. The water at the mouth of the river and sea is shallow try and fish of the sands Banks. There is an Island which has resort runned by Great Out doors, booking can be done on the spot. I have stayed and fished off this island but I had only a day at hand so success was limited. But bait fishing on the island can get u 20 pound fish. If you are trawling in open sea, take a long 50 pound line with steel trace and be ready for anything and everything. Will be exploring this place this March and will post further info on the subject.
Regards
Dean Gonsalves

just thought i,d update this post{i forgot about it to be honest},well i went to goa last march and had a fabulous time so much so that i,m goiing again on friday 11th jan ,i met an indian chap there who was more than willing to show me the local marks, the most productive of which was just underneath the fort at cabo de rama lost something big there which snapped my line like a carrot!all my bait was bought at one of the fish markets on the way down on the motorbike, this time i will be beefing up my gear considerably as the telescopic rod was not quite up to the job so i now have a four piece shimano travel rod and i,ll be taking a selection of spinners aswell as a few lures and i,m working on the theory that what works well over here in gower for bassing in the height of summer will work over there for the barra, lots of green in the lure, bubble float and white eel ,and my trusty dexter wedge !and if all else fails a large prawn and squid bait lobbed into the river mouth, irresistable to the bass here so i cant fail, can i ? hopefully i,ll remember to update this time
i have finally got through to sc council with my plans and my house is there for people to see on you tube just type in windy ridge feb 20011,cheers

well we fished hard on the boat and caught lots of rockfish ,pomfret etc and my son caught a ball fish which for all intents and purposes was a miniature puffer fish only less spiky .no barra as we arrived in between the full moons i had all the lures with me but to no avail but we had good fun and we got to witness a midday rave i,d recomend it to anyone"the fishing that is" you can catch just the same fish off the rocfks with prawn as you can off the boat its just sometimes nicer sitting comfy ,i do enough jagged rock fishing at home!
