hi..i am going to get my fly rods out of the cubboard this winter to have a fluff chuck..i fly fished for a good number of years 15 years ago..fishing places like lakedown, chalk springs and a few other waters around including ardingly and bewl....i once even tried selling my flys, but it was not to be..but i have the urge to go again...whats the scene like today..boringwheel sounds good....was a part of the tanyards set up if i remember...chalk springs was fun...any advice.or tips..made the anglers mail a couple of times with my trout catches..dont think i want to do that again..but a few fish for the table would be nice..andy

Hello Andy, all the waters you have named are still good except Ardingly
is now a course fishery.Duncton mill in Petworth is fantastic and private / season ticket only except for the winter months when you can fish it on day ticket up to mid march ish.Not to far away for you either.
Happy new year
Ian

hi..i have fished averly.rooksbury mill and up at albury to..i done a lot of trouting in the years i did go..the stalking was great at chalk springs..but the tiny waters were like fishing garden ponds..so i went on to try resiovior trouting..at bewl..great from a boat..loved it.. but in the end i gave up as i had loads in the freezer and found it got a bit to silly..catching so many..with nothing i could do with them except freeze them..so i just gave up...andy

Used to have the same problem as you.
Too many fish, not enough room to keep them.
Most of the larger English reservoirs (Grafham, Chew, Blagdon eg) and quite a few others offer catch and release so if I were you I'd fish those.
Even the places that don't do catch and release, as long as your out of sight of the rangers you can get away with releasing them. Just be careful as I know of chaps who have been banned for doing this.Team Eel -- Assistant deputy Captain

hi...the whole thing of must keep on trout waters is very off putting if you just require to fish for sport....you can only eat so many trout..i did find sneaking a few back was a way to go ..but on a crowded fishery it was hard to do..it was like this some times .. 4 fish ticket £35..30 miles driving...20 mins sport..caught 4 2-3 lb fish home time,, not what youd call a cost effective days sport

Go to your local carp fishery in the summer.Use your fly gear cork balls and all And dont moan about it.catch as many as you want and put them back for another day. If it bothers you Try flyfishing for Bass or Mackeral in the sea. its free and far more fun than paying over the odds trying to catch oversized stockies from a stewpond.
