Measures and restrictions for MPZs will vary greatly according to locality. The poll appears to me to be to be pushing away from the specifics. If all activity was to be banned it would in likelihood be a NTZ no take zone not an MPZ. Question stands in where is the specific reference to angling being banned.

If its there happy to support if the reasons don't stack up.

Ok martyn is this what you are after, i know it does not mention the banning of angling , But i would have thought its the basis of this petition, and looking at Balanced seas proposed sites they have 30 they want in the southeast region .

I see specific references to reduced or controlled trawling activity, something which anglers may indeed support, but the poll doesn't reflect in my view the differences between activities hence my question. Putting trawling and angling in the same mix is not In my view prudent and I would like to see the different impact of the activities recognised not put into a one size fits all pot.

Flip side is if angling is seen as damaging or destructive for proven reasons then sure we should have to answer the question, but we could be far more specific with the rationale than we "both take fish out of the sea".

Funny thing is looking at that document i don't see much mention of fish. It seems the proposed sites are based on protection of local enviroment more than long term recovery of fish stocks .

I agree with your views on the one size fits all way of doing things , but the guys who put all this into place probably see any form of interaction with the enviroment as having impact what ever the scale .
