Shore marks between Cooktown and Cairns
I posted on another fishing site for people to recommend any good marks and this is a few responses I got:
You have the Daintree and Bloomfield rivers on the way
they both have a few landbased spots that you can get into
If you can get around the mouth of the Bloomfield River there are some nice points on the north side of Weary Bay
Rattlesnake and Oyster points they hold big barras in close this time of year and often school mackerel and blue salmon
Archer point, south of Cooktown , is a top land based fishing spot, you can tangle with Coral Trout, all your Mackeral species, Queenies, Trevs etc. Lures are the go but pillies etc should be ok. It is signposted and is north of the black mountains on the way in. If you are travelling up the coast road through the Bloomfield just ask a few of the locals on the way up and they should be able to put you onto a number of spots, there are plenty !!!
