Littlehampton pollock with a side of plaice

Well seeing as I had an important day at work yesterday which ment we were unable to fish the pollock comp! I was not going to miss another good day of weather... Left the marina at 7 am and had the fish box full of healthy pollock before midday... The fishing was fantastic and white seemed to be the colour of the day! All these fish came off just 2 wrecks!

Highlight was me dropping down a heavy shad down on its own on my new hart bashido spinning rod that I use for bass and a daiawa ballistic 3000 reel ... 15 reels off the bottom the rod doubled over and a long 10 minute fight saw me pull in the biggest pollock of the day at 15lb 10oz .... Great fun on extremely light tackle!

Seeing as we had more than enough pollock , we headed back inshore for the afternoon to fish for some plaice... The water was very dirty which made for tough fishing ... Managed about half a dozen plaice with the biggest being a beauty at 4lb exactly .. Only kept 2 the rest released to fatten up!

All in all a great day! Next year Is a must for the pollock comp!

    Cheers Martin

Outstanding fishing, some lovely Pollack and a clonking great plaice to keep them company. I would have been a very happy man.
A big Pollack on light gear is quite a handfull, it gives them the chance to really show what they have got in the tank when it comes to a fight.
I bet you will be giving that another go !

    re Pollock

Well done that man, think you would have seriously struggled to do that Brighton way yesterday.
Men and Fish are alike....they both get into trouble when they Open their mouths!

Perhaps as every day is different! The pollock are feeding heavily on the sprats right now.. If your not fishing near the sprat shoals your not catching the fish! There not always on top of the wreck either .. You may be supprised how far away you end up catching the fish!

Martin, well done on a good day. I was stuck at work wishing I was at sea but that's life I suppose.
I too have found that when the Pollack are on the sprats they can be up to 200m uptide/downtide of the wreck so it's worth lengthening the drift to find them.

    Nice fishing again Martin.
