Fishing in South Australia - General Advice ?

    Hi Folks,

Im moving to the adelaide area in a month for a few years () BUT I have no clue about shore fishing in Oz and particularly in south australia. Im going to bring my spinning gear and my multipliers but will prob buy a new beach rod when I'm there - are the tackle shops pretty decent ?

Does anyone know any good sites that might have help for a newbie to Oz fishing ? Or any easy shore marks that I can break myself into near adelaide !

    Cheers

    Ewan

Good fishing down south, target species, Snapper, Australian Salmon , bluefish called Tailor in Oz and sharks, rays, king George whiting, bream...and the king of the angling world Mulloway/jewfish...

Big weights and distance not often needed, you tend to try and fish in gulleys

Tackle shops are ok , but very expensive, top bait sand worms, by a mile..

Best alround surf outfit 13ft light beachcaster and multi, estuary outfit 9ft spinning rod with 5000 fixed spool, rock fishing, by far the most dangerous but most exciting and rewarding, as long as you can get beachcaster and a winch [Alvey centerpin].

Don't forget to buy a license and for god sake don't keep undersize fish or go over your daily quota, bank side checks are very common...

Last time when I was there the Brighton and Glenelg jetty where good places to start fishing and meet local fisherman.

Also the area around Victor Harbor was very good.

    Tight lines !

Have you thought about contacting the Game Fishing Club of South Australia - http://www.gamefishsa.org.au/? Many of their members are based in the Adelaide area.
