    Porthkerris

Just got back from porthkerris, had a round 20 mackerel, but not a bite on the bottom. Looks like things are starting to pick up now....

Nice one, wherabouts did you fish? Off the point on the right-hand side of the beach? Fished Penhayle point last week hoping for some turbot or ray, blanked for the first time in ages, one bite all session. Might give it another blast at the weekend.

    porthkerris

Fished on the left hand side of the beach, in between the two large rock points, was quite busy there so couldnt fish my usual spot (on the first point left of the radio building thingy!?). Havnt tried for ray this year. Had any luck? had a turbot from hayle fishing for flounder once. Think they are sometimes caught to plague proportions at rinsey when fishing for bass.

    Well done
Were you feathering ,float fishing or spinning?
Also was it the couple of hours before high tide?

    'Kerris'

Mackeral are a bit late this year, usually start having a few in Feb down there.
tried fishing the Helford for thornies today, put a float out for mackies, not a sniff.
tried spinning with sand eel, nothing doing.
No thornies either, in fact absolutely nothing, not a bite.
    saw plenty of mullet.
just a very slow start to the summer species.
    well done Will.

    Treleavah

Been having the same problems tim. tried down treleavah yesterday for plaice and turbot, not a bite. Groundbaited for mullet to but none turned up. Think the late start could be put down to the east winds we had in february. Going to try ross bridge tonight, a thin lip was caught at newlyn so could be worth a try.

    plaice

back of the Island St Ives might be a good shout for plaice, or mans head, had my 4 lb one there (a good few years ago though) used to be the spot for them.
best of luck with the mullet.
