Can (will) anyone tell me please if state of tide has an effect at Chesil.

The info i am after is at what state of tide does it fish best, thinking gas works next weekend, but of course will bow to local advice.

    Many thanks

Most of my success has come from fishing an incoming tide that coincides with dusk. But also depends what your after as rays tend to be caught at night time low tide.

Generally I fish 3 hours up and 2 hours down or longer if allowed by her in doors!!

Oh and not sure about a Gas works on Chesil?

As long as you have some movement in the water you are in with a shout on Chesil. This varies according to tide size/location but a good rule of thumb for larger tides would be 3 1/2 hours b4 high, 2 1/2 hrs back (right to left run) or 2 hours b4 low, 2 1/2 hrs back (left to right). These windows will shorten on smaller tides, particularly over the low, with flow not starting untill the very bottom of the tide on the smallest of neaps. This should help you avoid the slack water periods which are like watching a wall dry on Chesil.
